Hey Ladies! I've been considering doing rollersets in my hair. I'm actually quite anxious. I know the directions and so on, but I need a little clarity. I'd like to use Goody Magnetic Rollers for this. Will this hurt my results? I'm not sure because sometimes brand is important. Also, I'd like to get some kind of creamy leave in, and I'm a big fan of Kenra, but if anyone else has any suggestions.. let me know. I'm trying to keep this under a little budget, hopefully this will be my last hair expense for awhile. Also.. are rollersets even effective on natural hair. I've been transition for a year so I only have a few strands of relaxed hair left! My hair is collarbone, and I'm trying to cut out heat and still be cute .I'm 3c/4a, I suppose |

| well i use anne magentic rollers but in my opinion the brand of magnetic rollers doesnt really matter its the size of the rollers. And i dotn use a leave in .. i use lottabody BUT i dilute it- 1part lottoboddy to 4 parts water because otherwise your hair will get hard. Lottabody makes my hair sooooo shiny and manageable unlike mouse. im sure that aroller set will be effective on 3c/4a wel im not sure about the 4a part but ive seen 3c's get roller sets. |

What up Pickled? I love your name. Brand does not matter. I bought Goody's and Anne's. I recently started rollersetting at home too. I found that the less product used, the better the results. Infusium 23 Leave-In is great for a straightening effect, and plain water in a spritz bottle keeps it nice and wet. Motions Nourishing Leave-in is a creamy one that was ok also, but do not use too much of this one because your hair will come out too crunchy. Macherieamour and Godsflowerr (rollersetting divas) are great resources for product recs. Lastly, I have been meaning to try KeraCare products for my rollersetting to see if there is much difference. | .. Aw Thanks! Yeah, I had to try the rollerset technique on a doll's head for practice, it came out nice.. I'd say. I bought the Conair rollerset pack from Target..it came with clips and a comb.. and it has 75 rollers..it's NICE. But I think I'm going to use my Motions Leave In spray mixed with water..and that's probably it. I can't stand Infusium.. makes my hair hard. And do you have the link for Macherieamour. I've seen it. I'm rollersetting tomorrow though.. I'll get back to you! |

To get it relaxer straight you have to make sure the hair is tight around the roller and that you've combed out each section completely leaving no tangles or waves in the rolled hair. Another thing you may want to check is if you've used too much water and not enough product. The product is what "sets" the hair in that nice smooth texture after the hair has been unrolled. It is not necessary to use heat on a roller set. Heat just makes the hair dry faster. When I have time I just roll it, tie it with a satin scarf and let it dry overnight while I sleep. Okay. I finally put the rollers in today..and my hair began shrinking out of the rollers..and I believed I had the rollers in tight enough. Well it's only a few of them.. Hopefully it'll dry okay! |

pickled, i am sorry to hear that. rollersetting takes practice. so don't give up. when i tried it using a comb, it was a mess. but then when i tried it by finger-parting, and simply using the comb on the seperate peice prior to rolling that peice, i got better. the trick is to not part too much hair and make sure each peice is not too wide for the roller's width. roll, pull roll. make sure the hair is wet, especially the ends must be wet. roll, pull, roll. make sure it lays flat, add tension as you go. keep at it. ------------- journal: www.fotki.com/ladyesquire email: ladyesquirehair@yahoo |

I agree it takes pratice, I'm not that good at rollersets but the first roller in the middle at the front always comes out STRAIGHT, but the further back I go the sloppier it gets and the more puffy the roots are. A poor excuse for a rollerset. How do I make this WORK? See how the hair just shrunk out of the roller. And I thought I rolled TIGHT. Thought wrong. Are there supposed to be two clips to one roller..or?? |

Not considering the few relaxed ends I have left, yes I am. I'd say I am, but you know how a lot of "true naturals" consider that problematic.
