| So I recently had my first experince with extensions. I had no problems with the hair itself, but i HATED removing my latex bond. It took just minutes to put int, it looks great, but it was torture to remove it, it took hours of frustration and washing it so many times definately damaged my natural hair. I've decided this definately isn't the method for me so now I'm looking into other types of bonds. I'm debating between either fusion or shrinkies. I want something that isn't torture to remove, dosen't damnage my natural hair too much and allows it to keep growing normally, and isn't overly expensive. Any advice out there? |

All methods require care and patience and proper methods to remove.. You say the latex damaged your hair, but in my experience any method if removed improperly or using the wrong removal method can potentially cause damage.. This includes fusion, shrinkies, microlinks, or any bonded or sew-in method.. That said, exactly how did you remove the latex glue?? ------------- Check out the 5th So Cal offline luncheon?? | the latex itself I don't think damaged my hair, but shampooing it for 3 hours trying to remove all the left over glue and its residue did for sure... at the very least my recendly dyed color faded several shades. |

| Definately try the protac first. It slides right out with acetone. Very easy. See if it works for you. There are demos on here from individuals showing you how to do it. If it doesn't work for you there are other easy methods too. there are techniques for almost everything but step one to any of them are patience. I know I freaked the first time I was trying to remove a new installation that didn't work. Search the board and if you can't find something, post what the problem is and we will point you in the right direction. |

yes, and thats the problem with latex. You are not alone, the latex IS torture (IMO) to get out. If you like the weft method, certainly take a look at the protac or tape methods. | I liked the weft method because it was really straight forward for a beginner. It definately started to feel a bit uncomfortable after a few days though, like i had bobby pins all over my head. What are the major pros and cons of wefts vs. single strands? |

hi- welcome to our lil family of hair addicts lets see if i can help-
WEFTS
pros -quick install
more hair per square inch
easy take down
less costly
Cons-
thicker on the head
can feel them more then individuals
not easy to pu tup- or have much versitility on styles
could be itchy
Single Strands
Pro-
more natural and feeling
eailer to put up
feels lighter
Cons
takes longer to install
longer to do maintance
could cost more
personally i prefer to do individuals on my clients
i have been wearing wefts installed with my own method- the main reason i wear them is two fold- i get more hair for the coverage- and also the maintance is quicker for my stylists to do for me, i and they dont have time for a full move up with individuals.

All methods take work. The wefts are much quicker whether sewn or glued in. I prefer individuals because the flow more naturally. Fusions are my favorite but I think microillusions are the best. Fusions take about 2 hours to install, microillusions 3-5 days 4-6 hours a day. YEAH THAT'S WHAT I SAID!!!.  The microillusions are so teent tiny that you can't see or feel them. And with maintenance they can last 8 months to a year. The must be maintained or you can end up with dreadlocks.

For my first real install I used super tape, and Bohyme in 14"... i'm doing another today and I'm doing a combo of tape and micros on the bottom layers |
