So heres the low down. I have major hair problems. First of all my hair grows at a extremely slow rate. About a month ago I was gettin my hair down for a concert. I had asked the girl to trim my hair. Well to make a long story short the trim ended up being a chop and my almost shoulder length hair that I have grown since I was about 10 ( I'm 19 now) is now a short bob cut. I have been looking into practically anything that will make my hair grow. I not looking for miracles. I just want to know if there's any kind of vitamin or some kind of technic that can help me to grow more than 3 inches of length to my hair in a year.

Hey.. Well I'm sorry to hear about the stylist messing you up.  You should've knocked her out! No, I'm kidding. Anyway.. there's really no miracle or anything to hair growth, except treating your hair RIGHT!  And you may think your hair grows really slow, but if you fool around with techniques and products..you may grow faster than anything in this world.  What's your hair regimen.. how often you wash..deep condition..what products you use..and what you moisturize with..whatever you do to your hair.. LET US KNOW!!  I know your pain with stylist doing whatever they freakin' wanna do, but hey..I'm now my only stylist and I'm doing better than ever before.

well I wash my hair twice a week with doo gro tingling dandruff shampoo, aussie moist shampoo and conditoner.

O blow dry it straight cause if I didnt i would look like a wild bush. Then I moisturize it lightly with doo gro stimulating growth oil.

I haven't had a perm in my hair for about a month and a half and don't plan on gettin another one untill march and thats only because I'm goin on tour with the MSU gospel choir. If I wasn't I would never get one.

Right now I just pull back into to a bun so it of my face and out of the way.

And thats all

Hi and welcome

MSU gospel choir- is that Michigan State if so i use to be in that choir 2004-2005

Well you need an actual moisturizer, doo gro is great but since it is an oil it only seals in moisture, but it does not moisturize.  Also, blowing drying the hair straight? Sounds like this blow drier is too high, along with oils which might mean you are cooking your hair.

What styles do you wear other than blown straight and a bun?

I agree with cmesweet that you need a water based moisturizer a good one is Neutrogena Silk touch (its watery so you only need a little and apply it to sections of hair and seal with oil). I think doo grow products contain mineral/petroleum oil which coat the hair and scalp keeping from receiving needed moisture etc. and can stunt growth. An excellent alt. is Wild growth oil it can be found in Sally's. Also the dandruff shampoo is that a clarifying shampoo...clarify poos strip the hair so using it 2x a week is too much, maybe limit it to 2x a month. Are u blowdring the hair 2x a week?

well to answer some of the question yes MSUGC is Michigan State Gospel Choir.

I mostly always wear my hair in a bun. I only wear my hair down when it has been permed. Last time I had it pressed straight my hair was soooooooo heavy it didn't move and went flat in an hour.

When ever I wash my hair I blow dry it. I know heat is bad for your hair, but if its not done it will become to unrulely for me to manage it. I suppose I should dry my hair on a lower temp.  If I shouldn't use the Doo groo shampoo what should I try? I have to have a dandruff shampoo or my head will look like a winter storm( sick, but itts true). thanks  to all that have replyed. If anyone help me with other styles that I could wear other than a bun that would be helpful. Thanks.

I used to think my hair grew extremely slow until I started paying attention to how much I had to trim my bangs...  I was trimming them 1/4 inch twice a month!  Eventually I realized that my hair was growing, but that I wasn't gaining any length because the ends were breaking off.  (at one point they were breaking off faster than it could grow and I was actually loosing length!)  When I changed my routine to do the least damage possible and moisturize like crazy, I started gaining length faster.

Make sure to use a heat protectant, whenever you blow dry your hair. You might also want to try rollersetting.  Using the right products, and treating your hair gentle should get you on your way to length, and healthy hair.  Our hair do grow, but we have to do all the right things to maintain the length.  Nizoral is a good dandruff shampoo.  If you do oil your scalp, you probably should discontinue doing that.  Because, most time dandruff is cause by overactive sebaceous glands.

I got in this hair forum, and I felt like God sent me to let ALL OF YOU GUYS KNOW ABOUT THIS MERICLE PRODUCT!!!!! A while back, my sister brought this product called Horizons home. It was a Christmas present to all of the women in my family. ( 5 of us) She wrapped up a bottle of their vitamins, and this oil called emu oil. Reluctant as we usual are in our family to try new things we did anyway...and three months later were still on this amazing product and trying to get all sisters and brothers to give it a try and begin to see all the amazing results we all did. We are African's and have that strong, course hair, but somehow it would never seem to grow and sometimes would get brittle and break off. The vitamins work from the INSIDE OUT to giving the body with all the vitamins and minerals the body needs to start on the road of healthy strong wild growing hair!!!!..and the oil?!?!..Oh My Goodness, its God sent!!! You put it on your hair, as often as you like, and within weeks, you see the new growth sprouting out of your head!!!!..I had an inch of new growth in about 2 weeks...my older sister saw amazing changes and growth in a WEEK!!!..and my younger sister had to start wearing it natural because since sees been using it, her hair is growing out so fast she had to get it re braided twice because the new growth was soooo much...I thank God every night for this product..I've been on the website thousands of times, and each time, I almost get brought to tears. The information is so clear, and easy to understand, and sooo many people seem to have been helped soo much by it...people from all over, and every race!!!. I even read about some men that were losing their hair and though the only solution would be a hair transplant!!! they were using their most potent, product they carry..the Enzy Block...and in less than a month their hair has grown back completely!!! and to think they almost went and spend 5 thousand on hair transplant procedures!!!!...I'm tell you ladies!!!! and all of you guys can come back on here and thank me once you see how amazing this stuff is...It's all natural and not only helps with your hair, but your skin and nails...If there was a fire at my house right now, I could bet you one of the few things I would grab would include my emu oil and my Vitiams..haha...shhh don't tell anyone though..I just know the summer is coming around, and instead of getting some kind of weave done, or some other hair style to mask my hair that wasn't growing, and breaking and thining everywhere. I know by the summer I'll have another 5 or 6 inches of my real strong, health grown hair...Women everywhere how how priceless something like that is....don't we??..I'm so caught up in trying to let ya know...I almost forgot the site!!! WWW.HORIZONSHAIRCARE.COM !!!! EMAIL ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS...AFTER WHAT THIS HAS DONE FOR ME. I WOULD BE A HORRIBLE PERSON IF I DIDN'T HELP OTHERS
