I read through the posts and didn't really see any answer that might help me. So if anyone could possible help me I would REALLY appreciate it.
Here goes...I wear a hair piece and love the color that they color it, a light to medium ash brown. I have been dying my own hair to match for years.
I have naturally dark brown hair with very little grey running through it. What I do is I strip it one day and it usually comes out yellow with sometimes a very light orange. The next day I put a toner on it, Wella ColorCharm "White Lady" which makes it a platinum blonde. The next day I put on neutral protein filler and dye it medium ash brown with a blue base. I do this about every 2-3 months.
For some reason it always has red highlights. No matter what I do. I tried using a light ash brown but it comes up to light. If I mix medium and light ash it still comes out medium brown with red highlights.
I have recently been skipping the "White Lady" toner but it comes out the same color.
Basically I cannot get out the red highlights. I have even tried "Red Out".The woman at Sally's cannot believe my hair doesn't come out green, but I always get the red highlights.
So I just dyed it again and again the red, and this time a little to dark, but I know that will lighten on it's own. So does anyone know what I can do to get the red out without stripping it again and starting over? I thought maybe of using a platinum protein filler thinking it will drab it out. I know there are drabbers, but that always makes it darker and it only lasts a few days.
If anyone has any suggestions for the next time I re-dye it or for now on how to get the red out without making it any darker I would appreciate it soooo very much! Pleeeeease any suggestions?
