Here's the deal...I'm 20 and have had the same hairstyle since I was in 7th grade (7 years). My hair has never been (and still really isn't) a big deal for me as my hair style consists of a towel shake when I get out of the shower and a little mat down. I just think I need something more organized now as I'm getting through college and starting to approach the possibilities of having a "real job". Meh.

My hair when cut short is fairly straight but as it grows out it get increasingly curly/wavy (pictures to follow). It is incredibly thick and grows at a mind numbingly fast rate. Aside from this information I honestly know nothing. When I get my hair cut I just say something like, "just take about an inch off all over." I don't even know where to start in looking for something that would not make me look like an idiot. My friends would laugh at me if I asked them and my mom would say a monk's ring looks good on me. I feel stupid posting this even with the anonymity the internet provides; this is just not my thing. Anyway, I would really like to hear what you people would recommend for me so I have something to start from. I'm conservative with my appearance and would like to avoid anything that uses excessive amounts product/gel. I don't really mind using the wax stuff after reading up on it as it doesn't seem that noticeable. So if anyone has anything they think could be good for me by all means let me know. Oh, my face shape is kind of oval and pointy-ish...don't know what that means but it can't hurt. Now for the pictures (I apparently can't post pictures directly so I'll provide the links to photobucket, 2 don't show all of my head, but it's all I have...):

shorter hair - http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w211/rhs05d/n5231297_34828111_283.jpg

A little longer - http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w211/rhs05d/n5231297_31752123_3566.jpg

About as long as it gets - http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w211/rhs05d/n5231297_30185033_9266.jpg

The most recent one is more than a year ago but they should still work.

Just found another picture that shows my hair at medium length better. As you can see it's just kind of there...not much to it. One day it makes the point thing as it is in the following pic, one day it all flips out, and the next it makes little hook shaped curves. It gets frizzy and poofy in the humidity when it's longer. I say I don't want any product but something to hold to her in a designated place during times such as these would be great.

actually a short simple haircut is always fashionable for men, because short casual business looking cut can be easily jazzed up using the right products or a little bit or highlights and color. an old fashion barber works just fine if you want a simple casual cut. With their experience in these type of cuts, you can't really go wrong.

sounds like you are man's man to me and don't want to spend too much time messing around your hair. Wax is definitely one of the better hair products. It comes it various hold, shine and scent. Its great because it holds hair with out the excess shine and hardness that comes with gel, since you want a natural look.
