I have had the same hairstyle for years!! Long, thick, blonde, and straight. In high school, I cut it to chin length, and I hated it, so I`ve let it grow back out to near waist length. I recently colored it from blonde to red, but the red keeps washing out--I use a protein filler when coloring, but doesn`t seem to help! So I`m ready to return to blonde. My question is what kind of cut can I do for a change? My face is very full, and my forehead is practically non-existent, so I am forced to wear bangs. I hate my round face, and would like to find a style that will make it appear slimmer. Would layers help? I`m sending my webpage (several years old)--it has pics of the hairstyle I`ve had since 10th grade.

Kate, You are a beautiful girl. I also have a round face and the cut that looks best on me are. 1. The Dianne Sawyer cut. and 2. No Bangs and shoulder legnth. Bangs are good for hiding a large forehead, but yours looks fine. Good luck

Kate,

When I was in the 2nd grade, I had long hair all one length. Then my mom cut bangs. I was ruined. I had bangs every since -- no matter how long or short my style, my forehead was always covered.

2 years ago I bit the bullet and decided to grow out my bangs. I have gotten the most compliments! I too have a round face (even more so since gaining weight lol!) and have since discovered that I look much better.

You`ll never know til you try, and if you don`t like not having bangs then you can cut them back in. :)

I used mine as a security blanket. My forehead broke out bad and I was embarrassed. I have since realized that it doesnt` break out much anymore either.

ps as far as the red -- have u tried shampoos/conditioners for red hair that deposit color to help the color last longer?

Kate,

After studying your face shape, I am not sure if your face is round or square! I am leaning more towards square.

Here`s a good link for styles for different face shapes.

Here`s a really neat site for examples of hairstyles for square faces. When u look at the styles and the face you may see why I think it looks like you! :)

Thank both of you for the feedback. I just discovered this site, today. I really don`t like bangs, they`re always in my eyes (I don`t like them short), they grow so fast, and basically are a huge pain! The photos on my site are flattering, you can`t tell how tiny my forehead actually is with that hairstyle (that`s why I havent changed it!). I also have a prominent widow`s peak and a noticeably uneven hairline. I`ve actually thought about shaving the widow`s peak off and evening up my hairline, but I figure that could only make matters worse! I had a baby 6 mos ago, and I`ve kept about 10lbs from the pregnancy, I know it doesn`t sound like a lot, but I swear every pound shows up in my cheeks!
There is an article on this site about face shape ( http://www.hairboutique.com/tips/tip464.htm - http://www.hairboutique.com/tips/tip464.htm ). I actually grabbed my ruler today and measured mine--cheekbone width-5inches; jaw width-5in.; forehead width-4.5in; length 6.5in. I`ve always been told t/ I am a "round", but maybe it is square. I`m glad you pointed that out, I`ll have to start looking at the hairstyles for "squares", now, too!
In high school, I had the same problem t/ you did! Breakouts on the forehead, and man was I happy to have bangs at the time! I feel much more confident with long hair. Have you seen Heather Locklear`s bangs lately? They are long and swept to the side. I would like to try that, maybe get some shorter layers, too.
It took me several applications to get the red to stick, a protein filler helped, and I`ve used a shampoo for red hair. It`s just too unpredictable. With each wash, I get a different shade of red!! Now, I need to figure out how to go back to blonde!

Oops, I was just looking at the links you pasted and realized that I put the same one in my last post--sorry! Also forgive the cheesy music on my website. I started it about 4 yrs ago, lost interest and haven`t touched it since!

You know I was comparing our faces, and actually they are very similar! Do you consider yourself a round or a square? Do you perm your hair or is it naturally curly? I have a friend who just paid $200 for a perm. It gave her a lot of body and loose curls. It looks really good, but I had a perm from hell when I was younger, so I haven`t even considered it. Now that I have a baby, I never have time to fix my hair, so it`s always straight and in a ponytail. I wish there was something to do with it that was quick and easy, but still "fixed". I know my hubby gets tired of seeing me in my t-shirts and ponytails-even though he would never say so!

I understand your desire for change, but in my humble opinion, you have the best hairstyle possible. Long hair is glorious. You look wonderful.

Due to weight I am definitely round! lol but when I am thinner I have a very angular jaw which makes my face more square, but not a perfect specimen of a square face. I think both of us can wear either style perfectly. Unlike some people that should not wear certain styles at all because it just accentuates all the wrong things.

That pic was from 99 and it was a perm. My hair is naturally board straight, fine but thick. That was my last attempt at a perm. They make my hair very brittle and break off my in my hand. This one was supposed to be "gentle" and have benefited from scientific advancements. not for my head. Later I had it straightened and then all the layers cut out and started growing my bangs out. I had it down to bra length before I cut it again. Long story -- check out the long hair support board under "How are you wearing your hair as you read this??"

I do the t-shirts and ponytail thing too. My sister and mom used to braid my hair for me, but I am 2700 miles from home in a house of men!

I am thinking of buying the Patrick Cameron books and teaching my hubby how to do my hair. :P

Trix

I can send u an updated pic if you want. email me off list. foxfan318@mac.com

Hey Foxfan. I was interested in your links for square faces (mine is very square but hair is short now). I can`t access two of them. The Mr.Joel one was forbidden by rating check (I am using my work browser) and the other non-hairboutique.com one wasn`t there at all. Can you suggest other methods of access? Thanks a million.
