About November of last year I dyed my hair a medium brown (which is slightly lighter than my natural color) I did the color myself and dyed it the same color about 6 weeks after because it faded so fast from the blonde underneath. This made my hair dry out and even my stylist told me I shouldn't have done the color twice. Anyways, to make a long story short, would lowlighting it to help with the faded areas cause a big problem in the overal health of my hair? I'm not interesting in changing the color, just helping it blend more as it grows out. I have been avoiding it but can't ignore the obvious roots anymore! Any help and/or knowledge would be great. Thanks!

i would advise you to go to a stylist and have lowlights in your natural color woven through in a demi-permanent dye. the demi perm is much gentler on the hair as it contains no ammonia and very little peroxide, and because of the previous color on your lengts would stick and last longer than a permanent would. the lowlights are a great option because they would help break up the line of your roots, and allow you to grow out your hair without that harsh line.
------------- learn to love what you were born with
you can do anything if you set your mindto it (just dont try this with hair, that could turn out bad)

great advice from Bryan...I used to have a similar problem because of going darker from blonde hair. except i use semi-dyes once a month to keep my color from fading like NATURAL INSTINCTS,which hardly does any damage at all to my hair.(in fact it always looks shiner and healthier) Also, john Frieda luminious color glaze color glosser in "chesnut to espresso" works wonders at keeping dark color refreshed in between colorings. I use it about once a week just for extra shine and a touch of color.
