| Hi, Thanks in advance for listening to my dilemia. I have been color my hair a reddish auburn for about 6 months. I was previously dying a blondish color. I thought it was time for a change, but the red is to difdicult to conceal my gray. so I have decided to return blonde and I knew this would be a gradual process. I have been using a perm dye with ash think it would neutralize the red but it just got to be a mess. I have lighter red in some area, dark red in other and blonde at the root. I have been researching that maybe a hair color stripper may help. I colored my hair today light ash blonde but no result. I am trying for a light natural blonde as before. please help should i use this stripper and how long to wait after dying today( my hair is in pretty good cond, just some split ends). after all is stripped then can I dye it the light natural blonde. |

Hi,something like colorfix by Loreal would help you.It removes perm.color from the hair. then it is possible you color you hair the blonde you want it to be and have it turn out. If it is not,and is still too reddish or dark,you will need to LIGHTEN it before you try to color it again. If you read claude's sticky at the top of the forum,you will see that you CANT dye darker hair lighter with color. It must ALWAYS be lightened first. So then you could try a high lift blonde color instead of bleaching depending if you get light enough. (store brand high lift colors are like Loreal blonde supreme) good luck. it will be easier if you do it within 72 hours. the outer layer of your hair (called the cuticle) is made of overlapping scales that are normally flat against the inner layers of your hair. when you dye however, the ammonia lifts up these scales allowing the color to penetrate to the center of your hair shaft. it normally takes about 72 hours for the cuticle to return to normal, and since the cuticle of your hair is still lifted, the colorfix will be able to remove more of your color than if you waited 2 or 3 more days.
