Based on my limited research, she's always had great hair:

Not that this has anything to do with her hair, but check out what it says about her on Wikipedia:

In August 2004 a real life drama embroilled the production of this soap as it was revealed of a relationship between Islas and underaged Genesis Rodriguez. The alleged incident took place at a party thrown by the Telemundo Network management where these two individuals were supposed to engage in a sexual encounter. Islas was sacked from the production, being replaced by another actor, eventually affecting the storyline of the production. Details of backstage bickering, overthrown egoes, innuendoes and firings were detailed ad nauseum providing the Hispanic press a field day with the story.

Eventually, Islas separated from his wife and starred in another soap opera titled "Los Plateados" when the scandal died down. Rodriguez headed out to Los Angeles to be featured in a small role on the daytime drama http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Days_of_our_Lives - Days of our Lives airing on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBC - NBC . Salacious tongues waged again when this detail came out. Telemundo is wholly owned by NBC and this provided the press with all kinds of speculations about the alleged settlement made with the underaged Rodriguez and Telemundo.
