What products do you girls find to be the best at controlling frizz/poofy hair? I personally have a BIG problem with this and I really need to find a product(s) to help control it that is good for my hair. Transitioning is HARD!Unhappy

i don't know what to tell you hon. sometimes, frizz is from over processing/ could be from shampooing too much/ or even too much protein in your hair. sorry i can't help more.
i was transitioning from Aug of last year and i can tell you my 2 textures drove me nuts. i found it hard to strike a balance between the 2 textures. but hey keep at it. you may have better outcome than me.

Hey lorlor, like kellie said frizz can be attributed to different factors the one that affected me was 1. Not using a clarify poo and 2. Not deep conditioning the hair. Clarifying helps remove buildup so that your conditioner doesn't sit on your hair it will penetrate and moisturize. Deep conditioning puts moisture into the hair so that your hair doesn't pull moisture from the air. I found when I started to do these 2 things regulary I didn't have a problem with frizz anymore. **Also co-washing and using a daily leave-in helps with frizz.

If you already do these things and still have frizz these products are great:
John Frieda styling cream
Fantasia gel
Beyond the Zone curling cream
Blended beauty Curly pudding (best used over the styling cream for curly styling or airdry buns)

for me what helps with frizz is when im air drying my hair ( which is pretty much always) I don't touch it. Unneed touching and manipulation causes frizz.

Also try smoothing a little oil onto your hair while its dripping wet. It seems to calm frizzies down also.

Thanks for your input guys! The thing is is that I know for a fact I dont over process my hair. I wash my  hair with CON shampoo every 5-7 days and I use Aussie Deep as a conditioner. My frizzies start straight out of the shower. If I pull my hair back tight and let it dry I get no more frizzies its only once I get out of the shower and look in the mirror when I see a big poofy tangly frizzy mess! Ive never deep conditoned my hair before and I dont know which one to use. Ive never co-washed either but I do use silk elements as a daily leave-in. I use WGO while my hair is wet and this VO5 clarifying spray thing and the leave-in. Other then the products Ive told you I dont use anything else. Between every wash I only use the leave-in. I was thinking about using the Silkelements De-Frizz line but im not sure. If you guys see anything wrong with my weekly regimene PLEASE tell me/ give me tips (if possible) and Ill love you for life!!! TIA everyone!!!

Hey lorlor, I used the old Aussie 3min reconstutor and I think that Aussie deeep was the replacement for that...if so I think that is a heavy-med protein treatment (someone pls correct me if Im wrong!) so you still need to use another conditioner following that. If you have a Sally's near by give Nautrelle (spelling?)Hemp conditioner a try it is wonderful---also adding honey and olive oil ups the moisture benefits of any deep conditioner. HTH :-)

Oh My Honey, I agree all the ladies it is what you are putting on your hair.
STOP...TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR PRODUCTS...I went thru the frizzies llast yr too, no more.....PLEASE go to EWG.org read skindeep...you will see all the harsh stuff in the hair and skin products we use, the site will tell you the ehalth concerns and also the better quality made products from shampoo to toilet paper.  I stopped over 5 yrs ago using shampoos from beauty supply, read every lable, they all contain he same thing SLS and more.....harsh harsh harsh and cancer causing and toxic.

start right now and get Virgin Coconut oil from a health food store or off the internet. use it until you can find a better shampoo to switch too.
1. shampoo 1 time only-do not tangle up your hair, best wash in shower with head hangin back, keep the hair straight downward while you wash
2. condiiton, rinse and then final rinse with 1/2 tsp cider vinegar, 1 cp water, just pour on hair..all done best not to rinse again, but if you have too, lightly rinse one more time, this gets your scalp and hair ph level normal....shampoo robs hair
3. now rub oil thu hair, so not cake it on. gently comb out with wide tooth
4.air dry a bit then blow dry...see what happens

Hi Simplired!

I have some Organic Virgin Coconut Oil from the health food store.  I'm actually trying it for weight loss!  Coconut Oil is good for so many things, but it has to be the Organic, Virgin Oil.  Oil that is not processed, bleached, refined, or have anything added to it.  Sometimes I take just a tiny amount, maybe a couple of drops,  and rub it in my palms, and it gives the hair a nice shine.  I just can't put too much, don't want to weigh the hair down.  Also the Organic Apple Cider Vinegar is great for dozens of things too, I just never tried it on my hair.  I agree with you that most commercial shampoos are too harsh.  I use natural shampoo lines like Nature's Gate, and Giovanni,  (excellent) found in health food stores. (Whole Foods, Vitamin Shoppe, GNC) The Jason line is also good.  They are excellent and full of herbs, vitamins, and minerals for the hair.  My hair is usually soft & shiny after using these products.

HI tracie60

yes you r right it has to be the virgin coconut oil....I use it on my body in place of lotion, my hair daily, and I am still working on the eating aspect of it.

the apple cidar...try it as a final rinse on your hair to restore the ph balance if nothing else.....1/2 tsp to 1/2 cup of water(cool or cold)  just pour over your head and that is it.
