So your wedding is coming up pretty soon. What did you decide to do?
By the way, I looked at my last post and realized that it may have sounded like I was down on the idea of you going with an updo. I didn't want to be discouraging. I was really just saying that weddings are delicate affairs and you have to be careful about giving the bride and groom the final say. My best friend from college got married recently and she still hasn't forgiven people for doing the tiniest little things that she didn't like during the wedding and reception. And she's normally not that way at all, but the stress of weddings can be tough to handle.
But if the bride and groom don't care what you do with your hair, then you're open to a whole world of possibilities. Well, except that it doesn't sound like your hair is going to be very long. But still, plenty of possibilities.
Are you going to be around your cosmetology student friend soon before the wedding? If you are, then maybe you could get her to try out some styles with your hair to help you decide. And if she's still a student, she could probably use the practice anyway
But seriously, without seeing you or your hair, there's not a whole lot to say with regard to particular syles except just to be encouraging. I can't tell from your post if you're looking for a guy-updo (is there such a thing?) or if you're thinking about something more feminine. Personally, I think that weddings are a time for everyone to dress up and look fabulous, so if you're comfortable with wearing something more feminine, I say go for the prettiest hairstyle you can manage.
While I can't really recommend something without more info, here are some ideas based on some images from the gallery. I love any excuse to browse the gallery!! Given that your hair will be less than shoulder length......
You could do something like in 11159 or 17388 and just go for a head full of smaller curls with your hair mostly down, and maybe some hair pins or ornaments to jazz it up.
Or you could go for a half-up look like 8419, and use some pretty clips or pins in the back. Also check out http://www.prohairdesigner.com/images/simple%20back.jpg - http://www.prohairdesigner.com/images/simple%20back.jpg
and http://www.hair-news.com/up-do-prom-bride-hairstyles-09.html - http://www.hair-news.com/up-do-prom-bride-hairstyles-09.html (on the right). Personally I love the half-updo look, especially if your hair is in a cute bob to begin with. Here are a couple more: http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art38806.asp - http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art38806.asp
Or some sort of tight twist or roll might work like in 4017. Also you could do a half-twist updo like towards the bottom of the page http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art1427.asp - http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art1427.asp
And of course, there are the classic bun-type updos that you can dress up in a lot of ways and work with pretty much any length hair. Two very pretty examples at http://www.hair-news.com/up-do-prom-bride-hairstyles-13.html - http://www.hair-news.com/up-do-prom-bride-hairstyles-13.html and another that uses a pretty headband at http://www.hair-news.com/up-do-prom-bride-hairstyles-33.html - http://www.hair-news.com/up-do-prom-bride-hairstyles-33.html on the left.
Or you could go mostly down and just do some small twists or braids on the top or sides like in 8409, 3842, 5315, or in http://www.hairstyles-pictures.com/medium.html - http://www.hairstyles-pictures.com/medium.html . Or create a style consisting of knots like in http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art38805.asp - http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art38805.asp
And speaking of braids, a simple French braid is always elegant, especially if you dress it up with flowers, ribbons, or pins.
Or if you still like the idea of twin buns, here's a nice variation 4640.
Another possibility is just to get a nice hairstyle, one that has great shape that will look elegant. A couple from the gallery are J. Hewitt's gorgeous bob with bangs (6962), 6048, 5373 if your hair is really thick,
My personal fav for shorter hair is 4576. But you'd have to be a brave guy to pull that one off between the bangs and all of those tight curls.
And finally, just a couple of sites with a large number of updos, many of which may work for you.

WOW!! That ended up being a really long message. Sorry about that. But I love browsing hair styles. Mine is a little bit shorter than yours sounds like it will be, so I was kind of looking at styles I might be able to use sometime soon as well.
Hope some of those work out for you. Let us know how it goes. I love to know what you decide to do.
