Hi

My goal is too grow a head of HEALTHY hair to shoulder length by December 2007.  It is currently touching the base of my neck and is breaking everytime new growth starts.  Is there any suggestion on how I could stop  that?  I try my best to relax my hair every 8 weeks, but after I touch up as my new growth starts, so does the breaking and this is the entire strand from the new growth.  I condition and moisture among with everything else, but this breakage starts from the time my hair grows out until I touch it up again.
Suggestions Needed.
--- I am Afrian American with course tightly coiled natural hair.

Right now I am using Healthy Hair (aka Nourish Hair ) products which are made with natural ingredients.  Great products, they have successfully help my hair to get to the current length.

My goal is by the time December rolls by I'll be able to put my hair into a ponytail with nothing coming out. My hair for some reason is just really against ponytails.

I know the feeling. I used to wear my hair short for years because it was always breaking and looked horrible.  So the solution was short hair cuts.

I would think it has been about 12 months since I have trimmed or cut my hair in anyway.

I wore weaves for the most part of last year and it is actually on my neck now.   Since then it has thinned out a bit, but i working on thickening it back up again and growing it out more.  I am currently using ORS Hair Mayonnaise and ORS Fertilizing Balm.  they have worked for me before and hoping they will work again.

Besides with all the knowledge I have acquired over the pass year.  I should be able to successfully grow out a full thick set of  hair to at least shoulder length in the by December 2008.

My hair goal is to reach BSL by September 2008 and to thicken the crown of my hair.  I'm probably going to start using Rosemary oil.

I currently add a couple drops of rosemary, sage and peppermint oil in my spray bottle with water to be sprayed directly on the scalp.

Or Jamacian Mango & Lime " No More Itch" spray.  Ingredients are natural so it works fine on itching.  Rather then scratch I spray. LOL

Do you do your own touch ups?

If so you have to make sure that you only apply the relaxer to the new growth, use a good nuetralizing shampoo and deep condition afterwards.

try wearing your hair up so your hair doesn't rub against your clothes.  This helped me get past shoulder length and it was something I had never considered being an issue.

There is a topic on this site called newbies: all you need to know.  It was filled with so much info, so if you haven't read it you should.

I'm new to this forum so if I'm just stating the obvious to all you hair pros forgive me.

Anyway, I hope this helps HHG
