I think I'm going to go synth this summer because I get the feeling my hair is going to go through a lot of wear and tear. So ofcourse, I have a few questions! Right now I'm looking at Plastikhaar for two reasons - they have variously curl sizes to choose from (and with natural curly hair, I don't want have to curl the synth on a daily basis in order to match my own hair, seeing as if my hair is curly, it's probably because I want to be lazy that day!) and a wide wide varity of reds. Are there any other synth types that start with a curl and hold them? Similiar to the 28mm of plastikhaar? Second, can you get mutiple installs out of plastikhaar or synth? And third which would make more sense overall - buying each color I want in bulk and making my own wefts (which I have not yet tried and I admit totally scares me!) or doing a custom weft from plastikhaar? Far too many questions all wrapped in one post but I'm trying to get this ball rolling on summer! (even if Michigan has decided to hate me and bring back the snow..) TIA! |

hi bunny -
i have only used the 50 mm curl PH but it became straight after a few washes - with synth also to really revive it once it starts to get a little straggly it's good to steam it out, which makes it super straight. of course, you just reset it with hotrollers, etc. do a board search for merguthrie or augen merk hair, mer said the augen merk held it's curl after washing and was a little less bunchy than PH. i haven't tried it myself though... just my 2 cents! i'm sure others will chime in... |

| you could also try thermofibre synthetics which you can get curly or straight - and they hold the curl you put in them through a few washes. |

Bunny, Amm made a really cool handtied weft and I was trying to find the post but no luck. It was posted a couple of weeks ago. Anyway, it was done with her synth hair and it looked amazing. I've never used synth but after seeing what she did I would try it. Amm, any plans on custom orders?  ------------- |

I remember reading about those - they were beautiful, but I'm not quite sure if I'd be able to do something like that myself? I've heard great things about the thermo but the main reason when I wear HH I go for FR or some other curly texture is because it matches my own fairly well... I hate using a curling iron! lol... Guess its cos I never really needed to! |

Oh right I remember seeing that. How did they hold up? Have you gotten PH in wefts before? I can't seem to find a good picture to judge how big they are. |

I am pretty good with a flat iron, so I'm sure I can do it... just seems silly to invest in a curling iron when all I have to do to get curly hair is shower! I've had friends do some great big barrel curls on me before, I do love them, my hair holds styles incredibly well - so I may have to invest in one since I'm edging towards wavy- extensions now.... darn addiction! |
