ok, so went in for my consult she was great in my opinion but just wanted to run this buy my new found "experts" here!  Wink

the hair is bohyme (?sp) remmy and she said it has the cuticle removed so it is soft - I am trying to remember everything she said -

she puts it in with this tube thing that once you heat it - it shrinks around the hair??  - is that shrinkes I want to say she called it microtube???  Anyway she said that she takes a larger section than you would w/ Great lengths and she brick layers it - I saw her pics and mannequin heads and was impressed - she has been doing it for > 15 years.

The hair is 400 install 400 and then she said upkeep every 6-8 weeks at 60/hour - in my opinion NOT too shabby at all considering I spent > 2500 for GL.

I did tell her I am concerned about blending w/ my short hair and she seemd not to concerned only told me I would not be able to wear in a high pony tail.

Any feedback??

Thanks  Trisha

also - does anyone think a body wave would make the extensions blend better than just keeping them straight ?????????????????

I want to be clear that I am not an expert of prices of salons, but it seems like a very good price to me, since it is Bohyme hair, and the hair in itself is already expensive. (about half of her price I would guess)
I would ask her how much she charges for removal, and how long it takes.
I would also ask her how long you should spend on the 'in between' visits, to see if it's gonna be expensive overall, and also how many strands are you supposed to lose on a regular basis every week or month

i would show up at the salon when she is doing a maintenance appointment on one of her current clients and check out her hair, straight or body wave depends on if your hair is pin straight or not

I just got concerned when I heard boheyme cuticle removed, can one of the real hair gurus chime in and tell us if that's good.  I know cuticle aligned but cuticle removed?

Posted By: malibu
Date Posted: April 07 2007 at 4:52pm
I didn't think the cuticle was removed on Bohyme.
The price is good but do you have to buy new hair each time?
You'll get your hair in a higher pony than if you did a weft method.

i thought remy meant the cuticle was not removed?

cuticle free hair wont last as long so you might only get 3 mths before you have to buy new hair

I swear she said cuticle removed - but maybe . . .. not  . . . .I know she said the hair was bohyme remmy (?) and I saw the package and it said the same thing.  She said the maintenece is 60/hour and usually takes no longer than 1 - 11/2 hours.  She includes removal into the initial fee.  Trish

now that I think about it maybe she said that the cuticle goes in the same direction so it is super soft and tangle free?  make sense?

Posted By: malibu

That makes sense but there will be some tangles. Not matting but it does tangle.

Wait r u saying that the hair is $400 and the installation is another $400.0 for a total of $800, or is it $400.00 total for hair and install.

I use bohyme hair for most of my installs - the hair is usually about $250.00 for more than one color, that is retail, I don't mark up anymore than that.

My last client had paid over 1800 for her prior intall, and was thrill with her hair when I was done- I charged $350.00for the install. I should charge more.....Lamp

I'm still wondering if the cuticle is removed on Bohyme? You may have heard her correctly. Did you have it done yet?

From what I understand some of the best hair out there has the cuticle stripped with acid. This allows Indian or Chinese hair to match finer Caucasian hair very well. I don't know about Bohyme.

What I was trying to say is that just because hair has been treated to strip the cuticle doesn't mean it is bad hair. Some crappy hair is processed this way, but some very good hair that lasts a long time has its cuticle at least partially removed, from what I understand.

And "remy/remi" can mean hair with its cuticle intact or hair that has been processed to have a european texture, from what I've read.

I found this over on BHM (scroll to the bottom of the page) and it sure made me understand better.

OOO girl no,no,no. You should have told us before you took them out. Did they charge by the strand or half head full head etc.? Maybe they could have added more hair for the price you paid to have them removed. Or you could have made them give you your money back.

ok so here is the story
prepaid the 800 dollars - went in on Friday afternoon to have them done - she started no big deal - as they started going in and she moved from the back to my sides then to the other side I realized that it was not enough hair - she used 2 strands in each tube apparently and put the extensions in too far apart so they looked really noodley - if that is a word . . anyway so when she was "done" I said, boy this really doesnt look right - she started cutting the extensions on the bottom to get rid of the lenghth and brought it so it was up to my collar bone area but really did not do anything to my hair it was like a ball of hair ontop of long hair - I was shaking but thought ok, well maybe once she washes it - it will lay better - well no she told me we were done and to go home and wash it and the hair will expand and fill in the spaces.  It was so bad.  I bought a headband from her before I left just to try to hide what I looked like - she said that if I had issues to call her and she was available tomorrow (sat).  I dashed home, crying, washed it and knew right away it was NOT enough hair.  I dried and styled it and it was horrid looking the only way it look OK was if I pulled the front and sides back and clipped them on top of my head in a little puff - agh!!!!!!!!!!!! so I called her (her work/cell is same) that night and left 3 msgs saying this is not right - no call - and I know she has that thing in her ear 24/7 b/c she had the bluetooth in during my consult and the entire time she was putting them in she was talking on the phone.  - anyway so I slept or tried to sleep that is and the next am, I called her starting at 0800 like a stalker I was about every 1/2 hour.  Finally I drove down to her shop and it said she opened at noon so I waited - nothing at 12 nothing at 1 nothing at 2 so I freaked out and called around to salons and no one would touch me - then I broke down and called the salon that did my Great Length extensions a year ago and cried to them and she said to come in - so I did and they used the liquid remover for GL to disolve the little microlock deal and pulled the extensions out.  They were nice but in a nut shell said this is bad, realy bad.  I had micro cuts in my scalp b/c the tips of the flashpoint hair were sticking out of the tube thing cutting into my scalp - I have pictures of that! Anyway it was 300 dollars to take them out plus tip.  Finally at 600 the bisnatch text msg me on my cell saying that she is not responsible now that I had someone else touch my hair.  I'm sure I am leaving some details out but in a nutshell I put a dispute for the charges into my visa and we will see what comes from this - if I have to I will take her to small claims court.  It was just a horrid experience - even my hubby who is a sweetie said, umm honey that is bad, do whatever you have to do to get it fixed!  Yikes!!!! :(

Tshamp,

I am so sorry for you!  I have really bad extensions right now also, and I am getting a cut in a few hours to see if they can make me look better, but I am not too hopeful.  I have the muffin poof on top as well, and after a week I am still in pain and am now starting to itch.

It is good that your husband is so supportive!  Mine is too, but he still can't resist throwing out the occasional "Joe Dirt" and "Garth" from "Wayne's World" comparisons. Angry

Does your hair look better now that they are all out?  Will you go back for more extensions?

What type do you have? Have you gone back to have them look at them? Would you consider having them add more hair to the top? They can fix them if you're willing. You may have to buy more hair though?

What a horrible story! I feel for you.

You should get a few wefts and some protac and do them yourself! There are demos on here and most of the ladies here are DIYers and have awesome locks for less$

The trannie thing had me though, that would have sent up some red flags!! The phone thing was rude and unprofessional too :(

Yanno, Pooks... I don't think this person's horrible behavior with her client had anything to do with her being a transsexual. One of my dear friends is a transsexual and through her I'm acquained with a larger social group that includes many m-t-f, f-t-m, pre-op, and post-op transsexuals. It seems to me that are as many upstanding, responsible, professional people who are transsexuals and as many flakes as in any other population of human beings. This person is a freak because she's a bad businessperson, not because she's a "trannie."

I want one but I really don't feel like going through all that mess again, meaning teen years. I'm forty with a 23, 20 and 17 year old. I want these people out of my house. I've been raising children all my adult life and it's really really taking me there and they're good kids.
I see why they used to marry girls off at 15. Those heffas need to live in their own houses and give their parents some peace. My oldest just graduated from college last week and says she doesn't want to move back in. Shoot, you don't have to tell me twice.
Now if Leo or Michael Jordan wanted some kids I'd be popping them out like a tennis ball serving machine.LOLLOLLOL It takes a village? I would sure hire oneLOL.
