Subject: Couple of questions before my first fusion install

Okay, so I am doing my first fusion install this week (on my daughter) and I have a quick question.

My daughter's hair is REALLY thick so I bought 4 packages of the silky straight, 22-24 inch remy pre-bonded tipped hair from dr locks even though the site said that most people like 3 packages.  (It should be here today or tomorrow) But, I'm wondering if I may need 5 because I have never bought their hair and don't really know how much 85-95 strands is per package as the site says.

I have done the microlinks on her before and it turned out OK but I should have used more hair.  I used 3 packages of the "Brandy" hair and tipped them myself with latex.  (won't do that again) I ended up using over 400 microlinks and she still looked a little "mushroomy" if you know what I mean.  Like, kindof like a mulet.  Confused  but not soooo bad.  She wore it for 2 months, she just had to pull her hair up into a half pony everday to make it look presentable.

Anyway, so I guess my questions are

1) Is 85-95 strands per package alot?
2) For the professionals, do you think 4 packages is enough for thick hair 3) How much hair is usual for an install on really thick hair?
and
4) Do you guys have any advice specific for fusion on thick hair.

Thanks to all who respond!!  Embarrassed

It says that the hair is in 50 gram packages which makes it just under 2 ounces. In my experience the typical head takes at least 4 ounces of 18 inch hair. Thick hair may take more.

Those seem like pretty small pretips.

Thank you.

So the 4 packages I bought comes to just over 7 oz of hair.  I think I may need another package.

As far as the size of the pretips - Is 3mm really smaller than average?  I've never bought pre-tipped hair so i had no idea what to expect as far as the size of the pretips.  What size is normal?

I looked at the pre-tipped hair on Yourhairshop.com but it is slightly more expensive for what seemed like the same hair so I went with drlocks.com; however, yourhairshop.com doesn't say anything about the size of the tips.

I'm really excited about this install, I hope it goes well.  I also bought shrinkies from the drlocks site, but I havn't decided if I am going to use them or not.

Anyway, thank again.

Im not sure about the 3mm, as Ive never measured pretips by size like that. I just thought that 85-95 strands/2 ounces of hair makes for strands on the thinner side.

hi vykky have you installed the fusion yet? when you pre-tipped your own did you use latex or did you mean keratin glue? What problems did you run into with them.
