Here are some pictures of actress Summer Glau (Firefly, The 4400, The Unit) taken from http://www.summer-glau.net - http://www.summer-glau.net . I was wondering if someone could help me mimic her hair? Basically it just looks curly/wavy and messy, which you'd think would be easy, but when I let my hair air dry, it doesn't come out all pretty like this.

And here's another one, that it looks like more work went into:

Again, it seems basic, and yet it's something I can't figure out. I'm a girl that knows nothing about these things. I blow-dry my hair straight and then straighten it, this is the extent of my knowledge. Any help is very appreciated. Thanks!

You need long layers from the ears down, and if your hair is naturally wavy, don't straighten it or blow dry.  After washing, comb it a little when its wet, then don't comb it again after that (and don't ever brush it or that will frizz it).  Combing wet hair can be damaging, so its best to use a wide toothed seamless comb.

I think you'd need a curling iron to acheive this look.
