Hi Girls

I wonder if anyone could give me a little advice.  I did a ladys hair on friday and her hair was so short, about 1-2 inches, she was desperate for extensions so i fitted her a full head of bohyme hair with pro tac as her hair was too short for fusion.

I told her i would do her 1st wash and blow dry FOC on Monday (today) to show her how to handle the hair and protac.

However i have came into the salon today and she has left me a message saying they have all fell out in the shower! I rang her straight back and spoke to her sister who says she only washed the ends of the hair and no conditioner went on the tapes and they still fell out, she now wants to come in in the morning for a full refund.

I have told her to bring the hair with her, will i be able to tell if she has put conditioner on the tapes??

Have you any advice for me? what would you do in this situation?

I have used pro Tac myself and had it in for about 8 weeks without a problem but this is the 1st time i have done pro tac on a paid client.

Thanks in advance for any replys.

xx

I have done protac on myself a number of times with great success and on a recent install I did, I had been washing my hair with Neutrogena Triple Moisture for a few weeks prior (and had no extensions in during this time).  When I washed my hair to prep it for the extensions, I got lazy and only washed once with a clarifying shampoo.  I put the extensions in, they looked great, and then a few days later on my first wash, they all slid right out.  I was shocked!  When I went to reinstall, I washed my hair with dishwashing detergent 3 times, no conditioner, and the protac held great.  Your client might just have had really slick hair and needed serious stripping of all oils in order to get the protac to stick.

Good advice olinagirl.
I am afraid that this woman may have just showered her hair w/ warm water and no shampoo, and maybe that was too soon for that....I don't know.. i noticed that when I applied Protac, I had to press if firmly against my head and it would help a lot for the hold.

yeah, I would agree, when you do the first pre-wash, you really have to get it really really stripped. And, if it was too soon, even water and the weight of the extensions can pull it out (had it happen) so it may not have been your fault. But I doubt you can tell either way.

Thanks for the replys, i asked her to wash her hair with washing up liquid before she came onto the salon and she swears she did, i know for next time to make sure i do the pre-wash in the salon and make sure it is done throughly, i will offer to re-install the hair for her and hopefully that will be ok as the last thing i want to do is refund.

Maybe she needs a double up method with an adhesive like Liquid Gold in between the Pro-tac. Also, did you try doing any of the sandwiching methods with her?

I also think that some hair types don't hold the protac as well.  My hair is very shiny and fine and the stuff easily slips out despite all the precautions.  I had to add shrinkies at the ends of the wefts to help hold the tape in, otherwise it all would have slid out in a few days.
