Best products to use: I use a mixture of vegetable oils---shea butter, castor oil, jojoba oil, vitamin e oil, almond oil etc.
Step by step: I put ingredients in a microwave safe bowl and melt them. I apply the warm oil to dry hair using the c&G method. I sit under the dryer for 20 min. Then I shampoo 2x to rinse it out. Benefits: Protects hair from harsh shampoo detergents. Gives hair shine,managablility, strength and moisture. ****Note I just read on LHCF that some ladies put conditoner on dry hair first and then seal it with a hot oil treatment, let it sit and shampoo it out. I don't do it often but this is what I do
I put an oil of choice on my hair. Then put on a a shower cap.
I wet a towel with warm water or sometimes microwave it on low just enough to make it warm. *Becareful you can make it too hot!!*
Then wrap it around my head
After about 30 minutes, i rinse my hair with just water. Following that I do the regular shampoo and conditioner wash.

i put the conditioner on first too, and then add the oils.
i use EVOO/EOs peppermint/clove/lavender/rosemary
but what i have done lately after shampooing (don't shampoo often) i have been adding castor oil to my conditioner and warming that up slighty, putting it on my hair and putting a plastic cap and then rinsing. don't put too much castor oil, it could make your hair oily, but my hair is natural and loves wet oils this made my hair very soft. ------------- http://public.fotki.com/Kell1e/ Transitioning since Aug 06 Last Relaxer Apr 06 |

Well I don't no if its good to do it like this but this works wonderful on my hair. When I have my hair out I mix oil, my conditoner, and honey together and warm it in the mircowave for about 45 sec. ThenI part my hair into 4 parts and put it all over my hair. I let it sit for about 15-45 mins then I shampoo only rinsing twice. It makes my hair feel soft and it does not be dry like it use to be after I shampoo. I also tried this on my mother's hair (she's natural) and it made her hair soft and she really likes it also. ------------- I'm not gonna give up this time!!! My hair is gonna grow no matter what they say!!! |

I have to get some castor oil cause I have been hearing alot of great things about it. Also haven't tried jojoba oil yet which is getting rave reviews on that favorite oils post. i think hot oil conditioners went out with the dinosaurs thats just my opinion. when you think about it oil it thick and will not penetrate the hair shaft at all. so the purpose it just to sit on the cuticle serving the purpose of wax. Now we have reconstructors that are mend to strengthen the hair and deep conditioners to penetrate the shaft and condition joico k-pak is a good one.

come to think of it, i used to go to a hairdresser that would shampoo and condition my hair first. put the hot oil on and then put me under a hood dryer with a plastic cap. | I just wash my hair regularly first to get rid of the style I had, while I am washing, I place the oil tube in a cup of warm water, then I apply it all over my hair when I'm done with my shampoo and condition...I wash that out, and then shampoo again, the results are beautiful once I finally sit under a dryer.. |

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the C&G method? I too am very curious about how to do a good hot oil treatment. I wasn't aware that you apply the oil treatment before you shampoo. I'm so glad I found this thread. If I'm not understanding this correctly, could you please help me out a little if it's not too much trouble?

| Well I'm not even sure if this is right...but I usually heat up some oil olive (oil of your choice) then I rub it all over my hair and scalp. Then I put a shower cap on and leave it long for an hour (or whatever you want too). |
