I decided I wanted to go blonde a few weeks ago. So three days ago I went to a hair salon with a recent picture of Lindsay Lohan [she's a blonde now] and told her I wanted that color or something near it. She told me that I was at risk of a "chemical haircut" after I explained to her why my hair was so dry and damaged. And then went on to tell me that she probably couldn't get it to a light blonde like I wanted. I told her fine as long as it was blonde. Apparently, the communication between us was not so good because when she was done it turned out to be a brassy gold/ginger color that looks pretty orange in most lights. She used about three different shades of color in it too which doesn't help. She rushed me out of there before I had a chance to really look at the color or complain because of another appointment [She didn't even bother to dry my hair!] and charged me $150 for "color correction" or something.

Now I'm here stuck with an awful orangey/brassy blondeish color that I HATE. It looks terrible. Almost like a ginger color. So the other day I picked up a box of Revlon Colorsilk in Dark Ash Blonde and was thinking about putting it over the color in hopes of "neutralizing" it. So my questions are, will this work? Or will it turn it even oranger/redder or some ungodly color? And will my hair fall out? Will I have a chemical haircut? Please help! I can't go to work with this color and I have NO MONEY to go back to a salon.

weellll...if you can't go back to a salon, i'd say your best bet would be to use a toner, and then condition your hair like a billion times ;)
I know what you mean about no money to go back to a salon...lol it sucks :oP

Anyways, if the revoln colorsilk color is lighter than your current color, it probably won't help any, since color doesn't lighten color, it just makes it darker, and might turn out oranger.
So..you can either go darker (maybe like a light golden brown?) or you can put a ash (purple/blue) toner over your current color to neutralize the brassyness.  They sell toner at Sally's, Wella color chamrs makes a good one.  You'll want one that's a ash color, i'm thinking a blue or purple based color since those colors neutralize orange and red.  Usually the people who work there are pretty helpful with stuff like that too.

If you're worried about getting a chemical haircut (yeah, it sucks, believe me...) make sure you deep condition a few times before and after doing any more coloring.  You can test how strong your hair is by taking a strand and gently pulling it to see if it stretches a tiny bit (good) or just snaps in half (bad).  If it feels kind of gummy, that's really bad.
Another thing i'd strongly suggest doing is conditioning your hair with cassia obovata after you re-dye.  Cassia is a plant that is ground up in to a powder.  you mix it with water, smoosh it into your hair and wrap it up for about 45 minutes.  It has no color, and really makes your hair ALOT stronger and shinier.  I know from expierience ;)  go to this website if you want to buy some--www . hennaforhair . com.    it has lots of information, and a section where you can buy cassia obovata.

hope this helps you a little ^_^ good luck!
