Hello,
I am based in Australia and I just had my hair chemically straighted with Dark and Lovely. I have Normal thin hair which has a kind of Nicole Kidman curl, but now the last 2 inches are fried. I have tried many treatments etc, any advice before I chop it all off? I have been growng it back for the last 12 months after chemo so I would be devistated to think I had to cut it off again.

I am so sorry to hear about your hair!  Someone should have told you that you don't need a relaxer for normally thin hair. 
 
What you have now is referred to as chemical alopecia - a form of hair loss caused by a chemical burn.  If you can, go see a dermatologist to see if there are any topical medications that might help.  Perhaps something used to treat alopecia might help.

You have damage. I would only called it chemical alopecia if the damage was done to the scalp as well as the hair shaft. You didn't mention anything about scalp burn or hair loss on your post, so I think they just over processed your hair. They also used  relaxer that is very damaging to your type of hair. Sodium Hydroxide works better for type 4 hair. For curly hair Thioglycolate works better is alot less damaging, and gives much softer, natural results. However, the two chemicals are not compatible. So if you had your hair relaxed with Sodium Hydroxide, you would have to grow out all the hair that was treated, and cut it off, before Thio can be used. Otherwise you would end up with a chemical hair cut.

Unfortunately, once hair is damaged you can't fix it. You can make it better by doing protein treatments and deep conditioning. However, burnt ends need to be chopped off, or they will alway look fried.

Can you advise on which brand of relaxer is best for fine type 3a hair?  Hairdresser cut my hair way too short and now I look like an older lady with a tight perm.  Don't know what to do.  If I blow dry it looks too poufy. So glad I just found this site!!!

I like Rusk Radical Anti-curl. Has always worked great for me. If your hair is 3a, formula 1 should work for you.
