i know when you take out your extensions your hair sheds a whole lot. this is my second time with full head extensions & i cant help but be a little worried that im sheding way too much. first off, they were microrings & i had them in for only 6 weeks & it feels it im sheding way too much.
do any of you know about how much you should shedd after taking your extensions out?
thank you very much.

I think how much a person sheds varies from person to person.  When I take mine out, it always seems like a lot, but after 15 years of extensions, my hair is not too much worse for the wear.

With my clients, I just make a mental note on how much they are shedding upon each removal, and if it seems excessive, then I'll either change the method or inform them of the excessive shedding so they can decide if they want to continue on with extensions.

Sadly, some people whose hair is not 'planted' in the head very firmly, they will lose a lot of hair.  I'm in that category.  Many people with genetically fine and thin hair have this type of hair.

well this is what happens-
typicially we tend to loose anywhere from 150-200 strands a day. Seeing that your shedded hair still came out of your head, it just didnt drop to the ground or on your shirt etc because it was locked in a microcylinder. So nturally when you took out your extensions, it seemed like a lot of hair came out because it did.
we go thru three stages of growth
shed stage, more then usual hair shed
growth stage- our hair grows alot
and dormat stage- it does nothing, not grow or shed too much
hope this helps

it used to scare me, now i realize that i still have hair on my head even with the huge blob of loose hair that comes out when i take my extensions out...but dont ignore it when you take them down, i just inspect my head....and nod at the mirror when i confirm that yes, there is still enough hair to reattach the extensions

I have a non-scarring- non-permanent from of hair loss called telogen effluvium where your hair gets stuck in the resting state and is VERY prone to fall out (the derm was litterally pulling my hair out with barely any effort and I hardly felt it)

And with my extension installs, the inital amount definately scared me (it was before my diagnosis also), but my hair was just as stick as before. So even with a condition that caused my hair to fall out very easily, I didn't see any sort of excessive shedding CAUSED by the extensions.
