Has anyone ever tried these guys...   "Double Hair"

http://www.balmainextensions.eu/international/hairdressers-information/doublehair.html - http://www.balmainextensions.eu/international/hairdressers-information/doublehair.html

There's a video demo.  Looks like a double weft sewn together with holes to pull your own hair through then apply a fusion chip.  Anyone tried it?  Looks interesting.  I'm trying to get pricing info.  That's probably the kicker.

Now I'm trying to figure out how to make my own somehow like this out of regular wefts...bet I can... LOL  you know how we are...  LOL

I'm sure you can make that yourself. I don't understand how they bond it? It looks like they did a fusion bond with the girl's own hair but it didn't look like any of the weft hair was in the bond?Confused

You can definitely make these on your own. Just sew the wefts together, one spot on each end and two spots in the middle. I've seen the wefts with the microrings already attached to the wefts, you can sew them on yourself too, same spots as the double hair. Or you can make your own with shrinkies also. You should try to make the double hair with the microrings. They would be much easier and faster to remove than with fusion.

I've tried it.They were giving out samples of it so I ordered it.I thought it was definitely a good method for people who dont mind fusion.the best part of the whole thing was the plastic guide the hair came in.

I think it would be easy to recreate.Like you said it is just two very small wefted peices. And there are small gaps between to pull the hair through. And you dont have to use fusion,I'm sure shrinks or microrings would work just as well. The hair they have sucks,so I would even more just suggest making them yourself.

But you could do it with Shrinks, I would use more hair though, it kinda scares me the small amount of hair being used.  Or you could use rings or extendtubes or such.

Question for some of the experts on the board would be.  Would it be smarter to attach some of the weft hair too?  Would this put too much stress on only the hair holding it together?

You could easily buy a $20 mini sewing machine at Target to sew the wefts together but leave holes.

I think a sewing machine needle may cut the wefts. Hand sewing would be easy to do. Have you all seen the wefts with the microrings already attached? You just pull your hair thru and clamp.

Valentine has actually sewin wefts using tissue paper and some silicone (this is from bulk) to make some fantastic wefts. I bet with the right needle it wouldn't be a problem at all.

I was wondering some of the same things the more I think about it.  Wouldn't I want to use some of the weft hair with whatever I use, i.e. fusion, shrinkies, links...?

Seems that if I only use my hair then the tendancy would be for breakage the longer I wore it.  My hair is pretty fine to begin with and even with the smaller wefts it might be too heavy.

Maybe more "holes" in the wefts = more attachment points so more support would be smarter?  I'm thinking maybe I'll try shrinkies first because they're easier to remove than fusion, but I can still put a ton of hair in there to hold...

thanks to everyone for your input!  Wink

But has anyone found any really good skin wefts that would hold up?

I don't think they have yet...

I ordered the samples as well, I'm really curious the more I poke around the site. There's gotta be a way to play around and make them. I think making more holes /bond points would spread out the weight enough to hold up nicely.

I ordered the sample too.  I wonder how bulky that second weft is going to be  - the one that folds down after you've attached the underneath layer...  That's my roadblock right now when I'm thinking of making them, and would that top weft sort of flop around since it's only attached to the other one which is attached?  Even w/a loop brush I think I'd need to be even more extra-careful so as to not break the hair that 's attached via fusion, shrinkies, etc.

I think it might be easy to snag the wefts when brushing.

I agree, but maybe it could be tacked down on the ends and middle so it dosen't flop? Like you would attach a regular weft with shrinkies or micros maybe.

I tried this on my daughter tonight but with micro rings instead of fushion. She said it was uncomfortable like there was a lot of weight on her strands of hair. I took it right out.

I heard the seamless wefts from Glamourhair.com are good.
