I have an appointment in 2 hours to have wefts sewn in.  The hair I had sewn in yesterday does not match and will not work; I was supposed to have the rest sewn in today, so now I am running around town like crazy.  The lightest I can find is the bohyme 613, but it is still a bit too gold.  How do I lighten it?  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE quick response.  Thank you , Thank you, THANK YOU!!!!!

Blondor Lightner with 30 Vol. Developer

Redken Shades EQ Platinum Ice to tone them.

hey kristiemlove...how did things turn out? Were you able to find the right color hair or did you have to tone or lighten the hair?

I would not bleach the hair, that is not necessary to cut the gold.  In fact, bleaching will only do damage.

What you need to do is tone with hair with a platinum toner.  I like Platinum Ice by Redken Shades EQ.  You can tone it on or off the head.

Thanks you guys.  I am going to try that Redken Shades.

The hair is great but the placement of the wefts is HORRIBLE.  We definitely did not go high enough due to the bulkiness, but I am too afraid of the risk of damaging my hair if I use that Protac and LG method.  Also, she left the sides with a good 2 to 2 1/2 inches from my hairline.  Isn't it supposed to be a lot closer? How close do you sew-ins go? I think she was afraid to go closer because I told her I wear my hair up so much, but this looks ridiculous.  She is supposed to be REALLY good at all this and her braid was beautiful, but just wondering about her experiance with caucasian hair.

She had to take the weft and braid that she did the day before out because I did not like the synthetic hair.  She redid the braid a little bit lower, but where she had originally done it, I had 2 really sore pimples from the braid or the hair pulling.  Is that normal?

With my sew-ins I have three tracks with single or double wefts in each track. Here is the placement of my tracks:

Oh THANK YOU!  This is VERY helpful!  I have very similar placement with three rows, but my top one ends right in line with front of ear and bottom two end right behind my ear!  Are you still able to pull your hair back and wear your hair up?

I really think, at least for me, that having hair in the front makes the style look more natural. My braider makes a little "swoop" with the very top ends of the highest weft to get even more hair around my face.

As far as wearing my hair up, my braids and wefts are tiny so it is easy to get my hair up. Here is a picture of how small the tracks are:

(I'm still chuckling at your screenname, kristiemlove... I'm guessing some people think both screennames are me and I'm just talking to myself!)

(Not that there is anything wrong with talking to yourself... I do it all the time!)

:::giggling:::

This makes me want to do a riff on Taxi Driver--

"Am I talkin' to me? Am I talkin' to ME? Am I talkin" to ME?"

(sorry... silly day today    )

Hey Kristiemlove, did she charge you again for taking down the track from the first time? It sounds like she's trying to work with you, right? Also, it seems like she's braiding too tight. You shouldn't be getting sore pimples from the braid.

I like the swoop layout like Kristie has. Kristie's middle track is how my one track is. Next time I'm getting a second track! You can ask her not to braid so tight and to lay it out the way Kristie's is. I would print up the image Kristie posted.

How much do you pay per track?

Kristie M, you are a TRIP!  I did go read your install info on DIY and that was very helpful; Thnak you.

Yes, she may definitely be braiding too tight.  Still checking for more pimples; Ouch and GROSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!  No, she did not charge for the takedown, but she does charge $50 per row, which is WAY high I have just discovered.  I have spoken to other braiders with equal experience since and they were only $15 and $25.  I will definitely be shopping around for next time AND take in those images.

Kristie M, is that the way you do your placement on BOTH sides, even the side you part?  That is actually how she did the first braid and why I had her take it out....because I could not pull my hair back.

I have to put some rows on the sides too, it is very important!! If I had my orws stopping at the level of the ears it would look totally weird, because of the huge length difference between my extensions and my real hair. I need to place wefts very high on my head too, it helps to blend my extensions better. And it's still very easy to do a ponytail!

Yes, the tracks are almost the same on both sides. The side opposite my part has the last track with the 'swoop' a little higher than the other side.
