What do you mean wolfing doesn't work for you? Where is the right side? From the sides I can see, your waves look decent.

When I wolf my hair just gets curly even when i do tie it down with a du-rag.

I will take pics of my right side.

Seems like you doing a good job without wolfing. If you choose not to and you keep getting progress do you.

your waves look good now but you said that when you grow your hair it gets curly.  That is a good thing because the more curls you have the more waves you will have.  Remember waves are just layed down curls.

It's not just you. But you have to realize that all these guys come in saying that they've been reading the forums before they posted. You could have someone reading right now brushing like there's no tomorrow. Then in November they make their first post with complete 360's.

The brush I have now is probably to soft to do that.

That's exactly what I did.  I viewed this site for nearly a year and a half and learned how to develop 360 waves before I even registered.  After I got my pattern tight I posted pics.  IMO, you can learn how to develop waves, without posting questions, if you just read the information that is already available on this site.
