Subject: Disappointing Install

Ladies... I am so disappointed and feel like a fool.  I decided to have a professional do my first install and I hate it.  I went with So. Cap. and paid over a thousand dollars.  The stylist was very nice and I dont know if she was just having a bad day or what, but....

1) She ordered the wrong color and then didn't blend the colors how I wanted.
2)  She had to dye my own hair three times, the last two times with the extensions in.
3) The blending is, in my opinion, not good.  I look like I have a mullet, not to mention that she cut some of my own hair off in the back and I am trying to grow it out.
4)  She installed MANY of the bonds on only five or so hairs.  These bonds are pulling my hair out.  In the first week, I have lost about 25 bonds and I am being very gentle with them.

I will try to attach a picture.  I know I should give her a chance to rectify it, but, I am afraid to let her touch my hair again.  What can I do?  Should I order some more hair and add to it myself?  Should I try to take out the bonds that are only attached to a few hairs?

I just don't understand it.  I had PLENTY of hair to attach to.  My hair is very thick.  I could just cry right now.

Okay...the image posting didnt work.  I am not sure what I did wrong.  Trust me on this, I have a mullet.  It looks horrible, far worse than any of the DIY installs I have seen on this site.  At this point, I would be happy to even have "mushroom" head.  I look straight out of the eighties.

Well, you're in LUCK the 80's look is back!
(just kidding)

I would call her and tell her exactly what you told us here. See what she says.
It doesn't make sense that she would do such a crappy install. Has she just started doing this??

No, that is what is really funny, Malibu.  She has been doing hair for many years.  I looked at photos of her work and they were really good (unless of course, it wasn't really her work).  At this rate, the bonds are going to have all fallen out within a month and they are taking my own hair with them.

That's horrible. Did you pay with a credit card? I don't know how much you paid but I know it wasn't cheap so I would call her, ask her to remove them because it's going to be damaging on your hair and dispute the charges on you credit card. This install sounds pitiful. Perhaps you can talk to the salon owner and she what she/he says? I would act on this now, don't wait because she's going to argue that it couldn't be too bad if you waited.

I'm sorry this happened to you! Can I suggest sew ins? I LOVE my sew in!!

Thank you.... I am going to think really hard about what I want to say and do.  I am a student too.  I did charge this on a credit card.  It was literally what I make in two month's pay.  I feel so stupid for not at least trying to have gone the DIY route.

I'd suggest you stand your ground, march back in and request some fix for your hair. Take it as far as the salon owner if need be. You shouldn't settle for less than you paid for. If you really don't want her touching your hair again maybe reqest a different stylist do it for you?

Talk to her. She may fix it willingly because of the excessive loss. DO NOT REMOVE THEM. You've paid to much money, it will be cheaper to have her fix it. Do you still have the ones that came out? Show them to her but don't let her keep them unless she corrects her work.
How many strands did she put in? You may have to buy more hair. I don't think people should pay per strand anyway. You should only pay for full head, half head etc.
Does she own the shop? Have someone else there fix it if you don't trust her. Make them reinstall the ones that are pulling at your hair and add more hair or refund your money. You should only have to pay for the extra hair not the repair.

I would talk to the salon owner. See if you can get another stylist to fix it. A bond on five hairs is very scary to me. That just says hair loss. I wouldn't want her touching my hair again either. I color match my ext to my own hair myself and I'm a DIY. No reason to put your hair through harsh processes you didn't want in the first place. She's a prof and should be able to color match the exts to your hair properly if that's what you want, or at the very least be willing to reorder the right hair and apologize for the delay instead of coloring your hair three times and then goofing the exts. If you don't say anything soon you can kiss your hard earned money goodbye.

I bet they'll work with you to fix it.

oh and I second the "don't try to remove it yourself". You'll lose hair and you'll also lose your leverage/proof by doing so before showing the salon owner what happened.

How long ago did you get them done?
If it's less than 2 weeks I'd go back and ask for a full refund and explain what's happening.
Then I would look around on the board, there are MANY tutorials and links so you (and a friend maybe) could do your hair...it should only cost $100.00-$400.00 depending on the hair you use,..

Thank you, Ladies, for all the support.  I just had the extensions done a week ago today and I have saved the ones that have come out.  I saved them in case I want to reattach them with microlinks or something.

As far as going to the salon owner, she is a private one-person operation, so, that is not really an option.  Honestly, the thought of letting her have another go at it brings tears to my eyes.  She has already cost me over a grand, dyed my hair three times, cut off some of my real hair, gave me a horrible install, etc...  I have very little faith in going back to her.  I am almost having an anxiety attack even thinking about going back to her.

I wouldn't want her touching my hair anymore either. Call her and ask for them to be removed and for your money back. This person sounds fishy. I can't imagine she's been doing this very long if your install is so poorly done. I would also call SoCap and let them know about her.

you paid over $1000's for SOCap?  I paid $700 tip included for a full head of SOcap- she ripped you off. I would demand she do it right- w/the right color or take them out- .  That is not right and sounds like she was not having a good day at all. I would call, you should not have to pay for lack of professionalism at putting in the extentions.

Call your CC company, have them reverse the charges. Call the stylist and let her know that you are not happy with the install and you do not feel comfortable going back for further maintenence with her.
Have them removed by another Socap professional and DIY your next install with the salvaged hair plus whatever amount more you need to fill in that mullet.

Hugs!

oh years ago i would have felt just like you...too nervous and anxious to go back to her.......but first off it is YOUR thousand dollars! second off she SHOULD be concerned about her reputation and WANT to make things right for you (for no extra charge too!)
sitting at home feeling miserable as you watch your hair AND the extension hair come out isnt going to help at all.....i INSIST Wink that you go back to her and show her and tell her how horrible you feel with her end result
good luck, please go back to her...if she ends up being an ass find her boss and even lay on the floor and have a tantrum until its fixed or you money is given back to you

Thanks again, Ladies...your posts have definitely cheered me up.  I will contact her at let her know how I am feeling.  I just have a feeling it is not going to go well.

When she re-dyed my hair, she said to me, "I hope you know no other stylist would be doing this for you."  She actually told me that about five times.  The funny thing is I didn't even ask her to redye my hair.  She did it on her own accord because it looked so bad and then tried to act like she was doing me a favor or something.

I am afraid if I don't have this install removed, I am going to be half bald in a month.

Posted By: malibu
Date Posted: May 30 2007 at 6:15pm
She sounds like a jerk. You won't go bald. If you did this type of install over and over it would result in traction alopecia but not just this one time. I would just call her and ask for them to be taken out and money back. She's lucky if you don't sue her or contact the better business bureau. Have you taken detailed pictures to document this?

Where do you live?
I'm sure someone here could recommend someone in your area who's good.

Don't be afraid to talk to her,
I am sure any reasonable person would understand and she should give you a refund, if she actually does say no, tell her you are very unhappy with her services, and ask her when she was certified, and report her to the hair board in your state (is she licensed ARE YOU SURE?)
Someone wouldn't be so hyper defensive for no good reason.

PLEASE contact her, tell her it's just not working out for you, that the reason they are falling out had NOTHING to do with you and ask about her refund policy, don't get mad, just ask, she shouldn't be insulted, just worried about you, if she gets angry, tell her you will resolve this matter w/o her.
Then report her and call your Credit card company and ask to do a chargeback,
TAKE PICTURES OF YOUR HAIR.
You may also want to file with the BBB.
Dont worry you'll be fine!

Sound advice. There's no need to show your behind. You have to remain calm.  If she doesn't return your money call your credit card company, simple as that. If she as nice as you believed her to be she may be very accomodating. If she shows HER behind then report he to the BBB and the hair licensing board.
That was EXTREMELY wise of you to put it on your card. Let your credit card company deal with her. I'm sure you are savvy enough to deal with her.
I still don't think you should remove them. We'll talk you through a repair from pre-tipping to install to removal. It's really not hard at all. My 16 year old does mine. And I do my eldest daughter's hair. You can do this.

i agree with EVERYTHING everyone has said,
before you let her take them out, call so-cap to find out the exact removal process and also if she is certified with them . ask her how she is going to remove them. Make sure she knows exactly how.
good luck you've come to the right place.

DanaCO...
Everyone is right on with their advice...from putting your foot down with this woman and being very stern with her rectifying the situation...and all the way to calling your credit card company to reverse the charges! Do not hesitate or have second thoughts.  And definitely contact SoCap regarding this woman.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEEEAAASE  DO NOT LET THIS WOMAN TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU!!!
Do NOT pay her anymore money for anything!!

I've read other posts on forums of members paying their hard earned money for a beautiful head of hair, only to come home with a wrecked install, that the so called 'stylist' goes scissor crazy cutting off the length they paid extra for! Or perhaps, like your situation, alot of bonds fall out within a week and/or they order the wrong color. I can't believe the number of color processes she did in one sitting???) They'll do a terrible install (the 'mushroom', or your 'mullet') then take advantage of your desperate state to have them removed and present a several hundred dollar fee for it.
GGGRRRRRR!!!
It's SO frustrating to hear of this happening to women....I really do hate when people get taken advantage of.  Well, I know everyone does...and I'm sure any member here would stand by your side if needed to confront this woman! We VALUE our hair, and it just amazes me that these 'stylists' that are in this biz, fail to match our love for it while we're in their chair.

Where do you live by the way?

I will let everyone know what happens and thank you again for all the messages.  MileHiGirl... I am in Colorado.  As of today, I have lost 39 BONDS!  The install was only done eight days ago.  Yesterday was the worst day as far as how many bonds fell out.

The first ones to go were the ones that were only attached to a few hairs.  I am now loosing some that are attached to larger sections of hair (even on those, the bonds are only attached to only 15-20 strands of hair).

Anyway, they are not sliding out.  My hair is literally being pulled out and/or breaking.  It is just incredible to me that in the first week, I have lost almost one third of the hair.

Please keep us posted!

I almost want you to give me her # so I can give her a piece of my mind. If you're scared to call, i'll pretend to be you and bitch her out and demand a refund, lol.

Anyway, good luck Dana. Hope all goes well.

I use Socap, and there is no reason that your install should hurt you this much nor should you have lost this many bonds.  By the time I remove most of my Socap extensions (3-4 months) most of my clients have only lost about 10 or less, and one of the things I stress to all of my clients is that extensions should never hurt. I know you are concerned about going back, but really this woman sounds incompetent. Why did she have to color your hair so much? If the hair she ordered didnt match Im sure she could have sent it back to Socap and exchange it for one that does match.  I guarantee my work , and if she is a good stylist/person the least she can do is 1) either fix it at no charge to you 2) refund you the cost of the labor. Do you know how many bonds were installed?

Im sorry that you had to go through this, Its this type of work that gives all of us and the extension process a bad reputation.

Obviously I am too(from the MileHi)....I live in a southern burb of Denver.  If you're around Denver, let me know.  I'm new to diy extensions, hoping to start an install on myself soon. I've bought all my hair and decided on a method to focus on practicing.  I don't know how much of help I could be, but I'm here.
If this woman agrees to remove the socap, but not refund, KEEP every strand of hair you paid for.  I think it would be hard to refund the hair, but she could at least refund the labor cost. But still talk toyour credit card company.
I hope, too, that you are able to reach her.  You can send me a private email if you want, neighbor!Big%20smile

I would call the owner of the salon and SO Cap and complain.  I would point out to the stylist(if you can call her that) that you did not ask her to dye your hair 5xs for HER error, she did that.  I usually am very mild mannered- i dont send back bad or wrong food, i do return clothes but i usually say:"I dont like it" etc - but this i would be going after her in no time.  39bonds in 8days ??? NO WAY she is pocketing the money on this -and she doesnt deserve it.  ITS YOUR MONEY, YOUR HAIR, YOU SPEAK UP!

Hello Everyone.....I will let you all know how this is resolved.  I have told her that I am not at all comfortable coming back to her.  I have offered her a very reasonable compromise, in my opinion.  I will let you know if she accepts.

I have now lost 41 bonds.  Of course, she is being very defensive and saying that she did the install exactly how it is supposed to be done.  She did offer to try to add the hair back in, but, I just can't bring myself to let her touch my hair again.  She said that If I don't like the way they are blended, she can cut off more of my hair.  The thought of her coming near me with a pair of scissors or more hair dye just petrifies me.

Envoy...she said she was using 150 bonds.

First let me offer my condolences. No hair disaster worse than getting stuck, and having paid money for it. I feel your pain.Cry
I would talk to this stylist, and be confident.
The manner I used in the past is to make sure she is there during business hours, march into the shop with customers all around, and quietly ask to speak to her alone. If she'd given me attitude, everybody was going to know what a crappy job was doneShocked, and if she was flexable, and helpful, the customers all around would  NOT see me go off the deep end.

Usually a reputable, professional will respond appropriately.

Danaco,

though Im not the best at math, the cost of you hair , if she indeed put 150 bonds should be no more than $400 (this includes cost of shipping etc).  This is money, you probably will not get back. But I think you are entitled to receive a refund for the labor, if not for all of it, then at least half of it. But definitely you should receive a good portion of your money back. 41 bonds is just crazy, just too many too soon. I have to assume that she educated you, told you what products to avoid, how to take care of it etc. Again, if she is a good business woman, she will offer something. In our line of business customer service is key. I hope it works out.

She is the owner of the salon, so, I am kind of stuck there.  I did contact So. Cap. and they basically said that they would refer me to another stylist and to please not hold it against the company, but, that was it.  I have now lost 49 bonds.  They are just attached to too little hair.  They are pulling my hair out.  I am not even brushing them, just finger combing them gently.

I did verify that she is licensed, but, haven't verified that she is certified to install So. Cap. (should have asked when I emailed them).  No, she didn't give me any care instructions at all.  I know how to care for them based on my prior research on the internet, but, none of that came from her.  I have since heard that if she is certified in So. Cap., she is supposed to give me a free check up appt. in the first couple weeks and also care instructions.  None of that was offered or given.

She originally said she would give me a So. Cap. care kit and also went back on that as well.  She instead gave me some other kind of shampoo/conditioner and only did so after I pressed the issue.

I made what I consider to be a very generous offer.  She can keep my $500 initial deposit to cover the cost of the hair, etc... and just credit me the final $600 (was $1,100 total).  I made this offer to her on Thursday and have yet to hear back from her so I did contact my credit card company as well.  I hope it is not a problem getting reimbursed.

In the meantime, I am saving the strands that have fallen out and ordered extentubes to reinstall them.  I don't know what I will do about the back of my hair.  It looks so awful.  She has my real hair cut down to only about 2 inches.  This goes directly into the extensions at the nape of the neck with zero blending.  The extensions at the nape she has cut to 12 inches (the longest of all of them in the install).  It looks ridiculous not to mention that the sides/temples do not at all match the length of the back.

Do you have someone who could help you put them in? Did you take pics? Take as many angles as possible including where they're attached and the overall style. It may be time to take them out now. You may have to have a professional take them out to testify about the damage in small claims court.
What exactly did she say when you made the offer? You did the right thing contacting the CC company now.

There is no reason in this day in age with the internet, that you should feel a hostage in this situation.  I cant believe a salon owner would act this way. This is just bad business. Has she seen your extensions?  Did you go back to the salon so that other clientsaround her can see the crap work that she did? I cannot believe she sent you home without any instructions. All of my clients sign a contract, it protects them and me legally in case things go wrong (thank god they never have), in that contract I have everything stated, how to take care of things etc.  Honestly, if this woman doesnt give you some of your money back, file a complaint with the better business bureau http://www.bbb.org - www.bbb.org .  If her salon shows up in the yahoo yellow pages, you can also write an honest assessment of your experience so that you can forewarn other potential hair extension clients. Other clients should not have to endure this kind of bad service! Again, Im so sorry to hear about your experience.
Stay strong! Approve

Again, Ladies...Thank you all for the support and the ideas.  I am taking pictures.  I have emailed her pictures as well.  I have not heard back from her since I emailed pictures and the option of accepting a partial refund.  I sent the emails last Thursday and still have heard nothing (before she did the install, she answered emails always within an hour or two).

Anyway, I have not gone into the salon because 1) I do not want her touching my hair again at this point. 2) Nothing less than a partial refund is going to make me happy.  I guess I will have to wait to hear from the credit card company at this point.

Also, as far as going into the salon... As I said, she is a private one person operation.  There are other salons right by her in the complex, but, each one is privately operated and she is the only stylist in her salon.

I don't know what else to do other than wait it out now.  I will give her a few more days before I contact the BBB and file a complaint.  I have ordered some extentubes to reattach the hair and I do have someone that can help me with that.  I have stopped counting the number that have pulled out, but, it is well over fifty now.

Just to update you all... I have now lost 63 pieces of the So. Cap., no word back from the stylist yet so I emailed her again. I basically told her that I needed a response or else I would be contacting the BBB and So. Cap. She got back to me and pretty much told me to go right ahead, she is not giving me even a partial refund.

She then went on to tell me that she has already spoken to So. Cap. and they told her she couldn't have done anything wrong with her training and experience (seems very doubtful to me that they would say that).

Anyway, I filed a complaint with the BBB and hope we can resolve this. In the meantime, my hair looks hideous and this women pocketed what I make in two months as a student. When I look in the mirror, I could just cry.

Thanks Tangles... It makes me so sad. Obviously, she is just in this for the cash. Once she had my money, the service stopped. I can't imagine treating someone like this. I contacted my credit card company previously and hope I can get some sort of reimbursment. Had I known that the hair was going to continue to fall out, I would have asked for a full refund.

How long did your credit card company say you would have to wait for a response from them.
Do not contact her anymore. Never show the devil your trump card, don't forewarn her of what you're planning!!!!!!!!!!!
Get a lawyer or free legal aid.You should file a small claim court action against her. You should have a professional (without any serious complaints of her own) evaluate your hair, take them out and have her take pics. Add that cost in your court filings and credit card claim.
You should also post something on the internet, newspaper and even your local Penny Saver (with you lawyers go ahead, they'll probably do it for you). I'm sure you're not the only person's who's hair she screwed up.
She wants to show her behind? TAKE HER BUTT DOWN !!!!!

ok everyone has given you advice on getting your money back and socking to this dumbass that did this to your hair

but my question for you: what are doing about the pieces that are pulling your own hair out? you really need to go to someone to take that stuff out i think or your own hair will be ruined if you wait the two or three months you were planning on keeping them in (if they all stay in by that time anyway)....once you get that shytte out come on here and im sure you can find a better way to do an extension install yourself for THOUSANDS less and EXTREMELY better results

Dana,
out of curiosity....is she illuding that you did something wrong after the installation? Is she claiming you did not care for them properly or something.

I asked this question to prepare you for her defense in court. Picture-pictures-pictures, and immaculate documentation.

I was taken to court once for cancelling a check that I paid for car repairs, the repair was in his imagination, b/c the car was still not repaired!!! I had to go to court or else ther'd be warrants and such....but I won my case b/c I had an excellent automechanic go behind this perpetrater, and fix the problem permanently.

The lawyer, and judge told me that I had to forwarn when I'd be cancelling a check!

Now maybe this varies from state to state.
Of course if you forwarn somebody aren't you giving them a chance to cash(steal) the money they did not even earn?

He got a dose of his own medicine, different flavor, he shelled out money to take me to court for bouncing a check when he knows what he said, and did.  Told me my car was old and it was working as good as it was going to.
The argument was maid that I should have atleast paid for parts----yeah right so he can use some expensive part on my car that may or may not have been needed yet the vehicle still did not work. I paid good money for goods and services, that would put my vehicle in working condition. (phew flashbackLOL)

A shoe company once took a down payment from me and then moved.
Friggin crooks, but anyway I contacted my bank, and they could only give me my money back, temporarily until they investigated, I'd paid with my debit card credit card.

Never heard from the shoe company again!!!
But getting the bank involved started a lagitimate professional paper trail.

It was a shoe store called Stepping Out, an exotic dancewaer store! One of the attendants was hinting that the guy was a ball of sleeze. I  conected the dots in hindsight.

Again I reiterate, people like her burry themselves.
Do what you can do.

Ok, that woman is crazy! I dont believe Socap would support her crappy work. Its terrible that you have to go through all of this , but in life we will always encounter people that will try to rip us off. When I bought my first car, I purchased a warranty from the car dealership, when my car broke down, my new mechanic told me that the warranty did not work. When I went back to the dealership where I bought my car, they were gone. I was only 19 then. But you know, I was so pissed off, that I was determined to 1) find them 2) get my $1000  dollars back. And you , though it took time and work I did. Now other people told me to let it go, to just suck it up, but more then just needing the money, I needed to prove to myself that I would not let people take advantage of me. I encourage you to do the same. It sounds like your on the right path, and I think all of us are proud of you for trying to fight for your rights.  So to help you here is some more advice:

1)take lots of pictures, and start posting them on review sites, like this forum. If your worried about slander, dont say I hate them, or anything negative about the stylist. Just post the pictures of your extensions, and say this work was done by ...... at......  According to her she did nothing wrong so by you stating the truth (i,e she did them) there should be legally nothing to reproach you.

2) Call your credit card again, and call the BBB. Call Socap, tell them everything. Tell them how you are going to contact the BBB. Ask to speak to the district supervisor, whatever.  Ask to speak to the educator , and tell them your experience.  Though they cant give you your money back, they might be able to apply pressure to that stylist. Go to consumer websites, and post your story all over. Those are safe online spaces where you can state how you have been victimized.

3) You must go to a professional hair extension specialist, and get them looked at and removed. I know the last thing you want is to spend more money. But you need to have someone credible document that other stylist's crap work. They need to 1)not only remove them because if you keep up in their they will pull out your hair  2) you  need someone to be a witness, someone with credibility.

If I was in your neighborhood, Id volunteer to remove them for free, but sadly Im quite far away. I wish you the best luck. Stay strong , I believe you will get your money back, at least some of it. Take this woman to small claims. Did someone say Judge Judy?  J/K

DanaCo,
Please, Please, Please educate yourself about the care of the technique!

---The first thing she is going to say flat out is that they were fine upon completion. That you must have done something innapropriate that caused these problems. She is showing you her ethics and values. She does not sound like lieing is beneathe her...ok. She could say she handed you literature!
---Earlier you stated that she taught you nothing about care and such.....she can flip that...lie and say you just did not do what she instructed you to do for care. We both know it's non compliance only when you have been taught explicitly what to do and not do!
For example she could lie and say you washed them,  within the first couple of hours, some mess like that....just be sure you educate yourself on what stipulates proper care
--Did you get some sort of cunsultation? Why is this important? Maybe she will try to say that your hair was already damaged...if your hair was damaged during cunsultation why would she move forward with the installation?
A professiona worth her salt, can pretty much determine what can cause chemical vs. mechanical damage. Which is why you should find someone who is an expert with this technique. A pro who knows her stuff.

My heart is going out to you.
I work! I earn my money, and so that means I value it.
She may as well just rolled up and said stick-em up.

do what u can to get your money back- it will all come around to bite her in the ass, Karma` reap what u sow, what ever wording u use, it will get back to her- she will loose ten fold of what she stole from u. really makes me sick that a so called professional would do this to u.

Tangles...Yes, I agree completely.  I think Karma always comes around.

Envoy... Thank you again for the advice (from everyone else too).  I have taken all of the advice you guys have given.  It is now just a matter of waiting to see what happens.

Anomis... She really hasn't given a possible reason for the problems.  To me, it seems like she made multiple mistakes with the install, but, I am going to take the advice of not saying anymore on that for the time being.

I am going to try to have another professional look at my hair and give me their opinion.  Thank you all once again.

DanaCo,

I have had the same experience. I have only had 2 come out by the roots, but I have many dangling. I Sent the pictures to SoCap's headquarter's in NYC (thanks to Metalgirl) and I had a very fast response from the area rep who before that email wouldn't give me the time of day. They want to give me the hair for my next installation, if my hair can take it. Do you even know if the hair she put in is truly SoCap??? Mine wasn't.

As far as the Stylist, are you in  southwest Missouri?LOL. All kidding aside. I am taking the stylist to small claims court and reporting her to the Attorney General.

Good Luck

Gosh it seems like the stylist in that situation tinker would just be better off working with you or settling ya know? Regardless of what her position is, now she has to deal with court and getting her name drug through the mud and reports. It just seems silly and irrational for her not to compromise but people can be silly and pigheaded.

Didn't want to do this either. It actually is making me sick to my stomach. But she has left me no recourse.  It's all too crazy if you ask me. I'm still in shock.

Oh definitely do it! If shes just being a little snit and wont even try to ccoperate with you then let her destroy her rep/business. If I was in her place and this was happening I would just say look, free hair, free install and thats the end of it. Lets move on ya know.

I think you should both name and shame your stylists, so that others can avoid them like the plague.

~disgusting service.

please give us an update,, in regards to the cc company, you need to make sure and call them and tell them you were given fraudulent unprofessional hair extensions,, putting the hair on 5 hairs,is absolutely contraindicated,, and her not having you sign anything or giving you after care instructions is basically malpractice,,,,, she not only didn't give you any follow up care,,as she promised, but she basically didn't give you any aftercare instructions and having to dye your hair 3 times to try and get them to match,, and so you are filing a claim for not getting the service you paid for,,as the 1/3 of the hair extensions have fallen off in the first 10 days,, and be strong with the cc company...

I am so sorry to hear of your problems too, Tinker. Mine are yet to be resolved. The sylist I dealt with has refused to do even a partial refund. I contacted So. Cap. to no result. I also filed a BBB complaint and they have now dropped it saying that we are not going to reach a resolution.

I am still waiting to hear on the CC reversal. My boyfriend paid for a new install with me from another stylist which looks great so far. We totally can't afford this though. Even thinking about it makes me want to cry. I will NEVER pay for a "professional" install again.

i agree with kateadreena -

name and shame... a lot of women read these boards, many coming here looking for a local extensionist. on my local news channel there is also a public interest guy who will follow up with stuff like this - contractor horror stories, scammers, etc etc. often just a call from them saying we are going to look into this case is enough bad publicity that folks settle right up.

if you can't afford financially to suck it up when it wasn't your fault...i say go for it!

When you contacted your credit card company they immediately reverse the charges until the disbute is over.  The stylist will receive a letter that the charges were reversed and she will then be forced to comply with your compromise due to the fact that she will lose the whole sale if the credit card company finds her at fault.  I am a salon owner and I know how it works.  I had a customer use a stolen credit card and the charges were reversed and I lost the sale because of not checking ID on the user. Good luck to you.

I am so glad that you took out the remaining bonds and had a new installation. They would have ripped out what was left of your hair! The hair it was attatched to should have been the same amount as the extension hair, otherwise it will pull out your hair because your follicles can't handle the weight!
Also, from my own experiences with fusion, the glue cannot handle being dyed more than once, otherwise it starts to break down, especially if you are going a lighter color. If she was coloring and then washing your hair right after install that is a major no no because you shouldn't wash for at least 24 hours to allow the bonds to set!
I wish you the best and please don't think every professional would install so badly or offer such bad customer service! I feel your pain.....
