Messengers Bags Vs. Back Packs.  Which do you feel more comforable carring?

As a woman I don't carry either but I love it when guys carry great looking messenger bags.  Although I think back packs can work for guys in college or for some sporting or casual events, the new messenger bags can really look good with more upscale dressing.
 
Of course this is just my opinion.
