I'm a new user in this forum, very happy that found it.Hope to find lot of useful information.
I have been coloring my hair with henna. I found very nice web site http://www.hennaforhair.com/ with natural techniques recipes. I use it. Natural henna asks longer time and more work, I was looking for easy way to dye my hair with henna and found Indian henna Amar's in our local oriental store. This henna is Henna + chemical (Dye),in powder form. It is used for just 30 minutes and I get nice color, my hair become soft and shiny. here is web site http://www.indiamart.com/hennexindia/#process,
But I read about components of this henna and not sure if it's safe to use; pure henna powder, sodium perborate-citric acid anhydride-PAP-1,4diamino-2-nitrobenzene-magnesium carbonate-eclipta alba(mahabhangraj herb-sodium sulphite. I did search about every component and found some info but not everything is clear. Pls help. any info would be useful.

thanks in advance

From what I've learned you are better off with body art quality henna from the site you posted (hennaforhair).  On that same site you can see the story of Miss Rini who used to post here where she shows what results she got from henna with added chemicals vs. pure BAQ henna.

Edited to add:  To answer your question, I am not sure if those chemicals are safe or unsafe, but given that pure "body art quality" henna does not have these chemicals and gives better results, why not just use that?

This part is for everyone:  Be aware that you cannot use chemical dyes after using henna, they will just wash right out.  You also cannot use henna on bleached hair, it will stain it permanently green.  For those however who want red hair, or darker shades, and have virgin (unprocessed) hair, pure henna will be permanent, and stay nice.  The henna with chemicals or metals in it will not be as nice, or be permanent.  The stuff you buy in the health food store may say its 100% henna, but this is not true if its any color but red.  Pure henna is red, you can add your own other herbs to make other colors.

well, acutally you can use body art quality henna on any kind of hair, processed or not.  The compound henna (the stuff the originial poster was asking about with the chemicals in it)  WILL turn your hair GREEN if it is processed!!!  If you dye your bleached or naturally blonde with BAQ henn a it will turn vibrant orangy red, and the resulting red color will get progressivly darker the darker/browner your original hair is.  I've left henna on my hair for about a minimum of 3 hours and got good color (this was over my bleached hair.)
