Hi. My sister was told by her doctor that she had folliculitus (sp?). From what I`m told, folliculitus is like acne on the scalp and hairline area. Has anyone ever heard of this? Thanks.

The son of a coworker has scalp acne and is being treated by a dermatologist and says they have it under control. She was given a brochure that has this advice: "Some people get pimples on the scalp that may take a few weeks to clear up. This type of pimple is known as acne necrotica miliaris, and seems to flourish during times of high stress or when the scalp is oilier than normal. The latter may occur if you haven`t shampooed as often as usual or are using hair-care products with a lot of oil. To speed healing, shampoo frequently and apply an acne remedy with benzoyl peroxide. If the acne itches, use an anti-itch product with cortisone or wash your hair several times with a coal-tar shampoo." She says her son alternates between a quality moisturizing shampoo and a coal tar shampoo.
