First of all, you can do a freebie once in a while, but you paid good money to take the Hairlocs course, so you need to get paid back for your investment.

*You should find out what other salons in your area charge for strand extensions, and what methods that they offer.  You can base you pricing around what the going average is.

*I don't know how much Hairlocs charges the stylist for hair, but there are other less expensive brands around.  http://www.hairpiece.com - www.hairpiece.com has some decent hair.  Also, you could buy Bohyme wefts and tip them yourself to make the stick hair.  A 4 ounce weft makes a lot of pieces of stick hair.

*Get a really good website.

*advertise on any free sites.  http://www.hairextensionguide.com - www.hairextensionguide.com has free and paid listings.  Do a listing on http://www.craigslist.com - www.craigslist.com

*Design a good flyer or brochure and take them to your local strip clubs.  Strippers love hair extensions and they have the money to pay for it.

*If there are any modeling schools in your area, offer to do some extensions for a modeling shoot.

*Wear extensions yourself, and make sure that your hair always looks great.   When people compliment you on your hair, tell them you do hair extensions and give them your card.

*Keep your prices competitive, and offer exceptional customer service.   Be willing to deal with problems when necessary. ( bad batches of hair or shedding hair strands due to product failure does happen)

*Learn more than one method, since 'one size does not fit all'.

It takes time to build a clientele, but if your work is good, the product is good, your customer service is good, and your prices are reasonable, you will build a good clientele.  In the hair world, to build  a full clientele can take anywhere from 1-3 years, so try to be patient!

Good luck to you!Tongue

Steph, how much is the hair locks hair, how many ounces or strands per pack.
Like Metal said, just because you've taken their course doesn't mean that you HAVE to use their hair.

I usually buy my stick hair at http://www.hairpiece.com - www.hairpiece.com or  http://www.short2long.com - www.short2long.com

Both have good hair at affordable prices.  Much cheaper than what Hairlocs is charging you.

bloomin ell thats a rip off!!

I second metalgirls advice.  what id also suggest is a 'reccommend a friend' policy..

reccomend 1 friend who comes in, get a free shampoo, 2 friends, free something else, 5 friends coem in and you get a free head of extensions!
