I'd love to see your gallery of all the different colors you've tried, if you make a hair journal here, post and let everyone know on the hair color board (I think others there would enjoy seeing it too). Have fun!

Thanks for letting us know! Sarsvati's thread is indeed interesting, and its nice to know how things work on a day to day basis for different people. If your splits have splits, you may need to consider either a small trim, or a dusting (cutting each split off of each individual hair...works best for those without too many splits or it could result in an uneven haircut). Splits only get worse as they climb the hair, so as much as we hate to trim them, they do have to be removed or we'll just have to remove more later.
I've tried water only, and some things aren't as bad as you expect. Your hair really doesn't smell, since the water does seem to wash off any odor-causing-whatevers. I couldn't stand the stage Sarsvati mentioned early on where you feel like your hair is ubergreasy, and my scalp didn't respond that well, (it was too flaky and I just couldn't seem to get rid of that with only water). So, I gave up early, though I kind of wish I could get to the point she got to where she was past all that and liked it a lot. I know for sure she must have the softest hair ever. Good luck to you, I'll read your journal.
