I'm thinking of purchasing some shrinkies in black and doing the bottom (near the neck) in that method to stop my own hair sticking out.  Do I need the special fusion guns for the shrinkies or can I "seal" them with my ceramic flat iron? They shrink with heat right? I've read all the demos but none of them indicate that you can substitute the fusion wand. I just resent spending $40 on a ANOTHER hair appliance Big%20smile

Has anyone tried sealing them with a regular flat iron?

it can be done but from everything I've heard its more cumbersome and dosen't do nearly as good of a job as a fusion wand.

Those LOOF ones are awesome! Trust me you should use this over a flat iron! AND you can make your own pre-tips with these! Saves you lot$!

Just make sure you have adhesive lined Shrink Links!

It takes mine about 10 seconds to seal.

BUY YOURSELF A HEAT DISC PROTECTOR THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are very cheap, but my god, it saved the my skin from burns!

I then use my comb or hard plastic thing to press the hot shrink link against to plastic disc to flatten it out while it's still super hot, I tried the finger proecters that AMM sells but did not like them, her shrink links are awesome!
Then after that, I roll it and slide the disc out.
You'll want some metal clips too, to hold the disc in place.

Or an easier thing would be Micro-links, a tool for install/removal is about $8.00 and the links are about, uh, $10.00? Depending on how many you get, you also need a threader, about $4.00, these are MUCH easier on install and removal then Shrink links!
