Hi, I have wavy/curly hair. I would really like to have straight hair. I was thinking abour relaxing my hair to get it straight. The thing is, is that I`m not african american. I`m white, and I have wavy/curly hair. Am I allowed to relax my hair? What was the experiences you had with relaxing your hair? What was the before and after? Thanks.

Hi,

I have talked to tons of stylists and people who had their hair relaxed. There is a difference between straightening which uses heavy duty chemicals and relaxers which are a lot softer and less harmful. Yes, you are definitely allowed to relax your hair. You would be surprised how many people relax their hair. Done correctly it can be a great option. The key is keeping hair conditioned and not doing it too often. Both Rusk and Phyto make home kits that are very gentle.

Best wishes,
Karen
