I dyed my hair about 2 hours ago, dyed it from natural dark brown to black (for the first time). And I hate it. I've been reading on different sites thats its very difficult to get the black out, but is it hard to go back to dark brown from black? all the forum posts have asked about going from natural black to light brown or dyed black to light brown/blonde, so i dont know if going back to dark brown is as hard or not. and how soon can i dye it again? i want to do it asap because i cant stand it, and i dont dye my hair often so its not damaged from that. any help would be great!

first of, a lot of people are going to tell you its really hard ect.. but that is not true. ive dyed it onyx black before and hated it so much that 1hr later i went and bleached it to a golden brown.. which was beautiful. go to sallys if they have one where you live and get the manic panic vol.30 bleach kit and just watch it carefully until desired shade appears (mine took about 15-20 minutes), i dont know about others but in my experience it worked and no my hair didnt fall off.. ive gotten to the point that ive done 3 things in one day.. 3 drastik changes. good luck.

thanks for the reply! so i need to bleach it lighter, trying to dye it dark brown wont actually work?

no, not with black....the one thing that i have heard over and over is, "color won't lift color"...in the black hair case you either need to get color remover or bleach....i actually did lift dark auburn level 5 to a golden level 7 using wella color charm.....but black is hard, your time limit is also ticking...the sooner you get to getting that out of your hair the better....you have like a 48-72 hr window that will help with correction. good luck.

thanks to the replies! i went to the salon and they "lifted" the black out and then dyed it back to brown, looks great:)
