Buongiorno! My name is Marcella, I`m 41 and works as M.D at a hospital, in Italy. My hairs are wavy, coarse and thick. I`m a disaster in brushing, so for years I kept my hairs short or all-one lenght, in a ponytail. Now they are shoulder lenght, wavy, a little layered, with a lateral band that I tuck behind my ear or control with an Etro headband. Side view: Ok. Front view: FLAT. I don`t know how to manage it. I have a oval/long face and a small forehead. I` m craving for a feminine hairstyle but - how much is too much? Please, Karen, help me! Ciao.

Hi Marcella,
Thank you for your post. I apologize, I did not see it until tonite.
I have to tell you that it is hard to suggest hairstyles w/out photos so bear with me on this one.
You have an oval face which means you can add fullness around the crown as long as you don`t add height to increase your long face.
Bangs that are parted to one side and texturized or razored would be a soft look that will shorten your long face, work well with the oval shape and give you less of a flat look from the front view.
I would also suggest that you go with a few more layers in the overall length. Ask your stylist to create the new layers with a razor to "shatter" them and give you a beautiful full, layered and sensuous style.
If bangs are not to your liking you can ask your stylist to razor some layers around the crown so you have some fullness and not the flatness...but not too much fullness since you have a long face.
Since your hair is naturally wavy, you can get a great soft look by scunching your hair w/ your fingers and a finger diffuser on your blow dryer. It will give you a soft look with full layers. Play with hair wax and hair paste to get different textures.
I would also suggest that you consider highlights around your crown to open up your face and add brightness and a new look. You don`t need to add a lot of highlights, just a few will make a big difference and add shine.
Please let me know if you have more questions or need more details.
Best wishes, Karen
