Hi everyone! I`m trying something new. I used to wash and condition my hair every day, but just recently I started washing it every other day and still conditioning it every day. It seems to be shinier and more manageable. Has anyone else tried this? My hair is permed and colored and it is shoulder length. The perm is growing out, and the color I have in my hair is so close to the natural that the regrowth is hardly noticeable. I color to cover up the grays I`m getting. So, I`m just curious if anyone else is trying this and if they are getting as good results.

Well, I tried washing and conditioning my hair everday but it just looked greasy the second day. And if I conditioned my hair the second day it would be extremely poofy and greasy too. I have to wash my hair and condition everyday. Everyones hair is different...

Hi Sam,
I`m no stylist, but I definitely think you`re on the right track. I used to wash, blow dry, and use a curling iron on my hair every day. And then I`d wonder why it looked so thin on the ends! I`m currently growing my hair out and wear extensions. I wash my hair every 3-5 days. Never, ever in my wildest dreams could I imagine washing my hair that infrequently because my natural hair is so oily. But I`ve since learned that quite often the more the hair is washed, the more oily it becomes! Although extensions are not ideal for the hair, the infrequent washing has benefitted my natural hair tremendously.
When I do eventually wear my hair naturally (without extensions), I will desperately try to wash my hair just like you -- no more frequently than every other day!
One trick about which I`ve learned that is, in fact, old hat, is that if parts of your hair are oily, just sprinkle a bit of corn starch to absorb the excess oil. Honestly, it works like a charm! My natural hair gets oily MUCH sooner than my extensions. I don`t want to wash my hair too often so that my extensions will dry out, yet my natural hair easily becomes oily, so I just sprinkle some cornstarch on my roots, and I am absolutely amazed! It`s almost as if my hair has just been washed -- yet without the frizzies!

Thanks everyone! I`m glad to hear that I`m on the right track. I`m thinking that washing it every other day should be easy enough to do. It`s just hard at first not grabbing that shampoo bottle! But, like I said, I still condition every day.
