After reading a TON on these boards, I THINK I might want to order Russian wefts and have a stylist put them in? I just don't know any details on how to go about any of this. I have attached some pictures of what my hair looks like with the GL and a picture of the color I think I want to try. Problem is, every time I've tried going darker, I ended up hating it. And I KNOW it's because my hair is not shiny at all! I've seen some pics of quality wefts that are beautiful, shiny hair...I want it so bad but I'm afraid mine won't blend....any advice? I was thinking of buying Sebastian Colourshines to try to get more shine? Ugh, I need as much help as I can get Cry ...and soon!

That is a pretty color, still has alot of blond and gold highlights in, kinda like what you have now.

I have four wefts in a range of browns in Russian (the highest color can be classified as dark blonde to some) that is exactly like your 'This is where I am' color. Taking out the lighter browns, I can drop down easily to your 'This is what I want' color. I would get the medium and darker brown in Russian virgin for the look you want. For shine, there are finely ground (like dust) copper micas online you can purchase and mix in with your favorite smoothing cream. Lightly pat or smooth onto your hair and you will get pop and shine I assure you.

Well welcome!

Here's the link for micas:
http://brambleberry.com/micas.html#sparkle - http://brambleberry.com/micas.html#sparkle

Go about 3/4 down the page and you'll see the heading Bramble Berry Sparkle Micas.

There's Cappuccino and Copper Sparkle which are both really great for any hair color, really, but match well with brown/blonde/dark blonde blends. Light Gold mica which is white would be for platinum. I highly suggest only getting 1oz which is only about $5. It's quite a bit.

I wouldn't go darker than what you have but that's a personal opinion. I think your hair color is very pretty and suits you well.
Amm thanks so much for the tips, I had never heard of mica before either!

Tina, if you have the $$ for russian hair I would go for it, I have never tried it myself but it sounds great and it is apparently a very healthy looking shiny hair!

Oh Amm, I just checked the page with the micas, and there are so many. Is there one in particular you'd recommend?

Ok I guess I don't know how to read before my morning coffee, I just saw you recommend one or two micas in your post...
Have you tried the Gold Sparkle Mica Amm?
Do you think that the Copper Mica would be too dark for my hair color? (sorry to highjack the thread here...) I am like 16/14B in Bohyme
Too bad their delivery charges are like $10 and up...Confused

i do have the money for the russian hair as ive been saving for GL up until now...i definitely can afford it as of now, lol!
ive had this same color for 2 yrs so i kind of want a change and ive always wanted just brown, but hers has gold tones to it....not sure how to go about it, all i know is if i DO go darker, it HAS to be shiny and ive never found anything that makes it really shiny..

i found this site for the micas too: http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebstore/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=35&CFID=596763&CFTOKEN=77d6538e726aa78a-BB0489E2-1320-BC47-1FA5D4B50E492D08 - http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebstore/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=35&CFID=596763&CFTOKEN=77d6538e726aa78a-BB0489E2-1320-BC47-1FA5D4B50E492D08

i still would like to hear more about what it does to hair before i buy it though...yes frenchie, that site has the strangest shipping charges?? Ermm

well russian hair itself is VERY shiny and healthy looking - adding in some darker wefts I think would really accomplish that look for you. The micas sound like a good idea - they're basically one of the components in mineral make up so they're very safe for you hair. You could also use some biosilk shine serum and things like that to increase since, but in general well cared for brown hair tends to be quite shiny. Mine is about a 2n (color) 1/2(extension color) and when its well conditioned, I never need to use anything to enhance shine.

REALLY? I was thinking of taking the plunge and investing in it. Yikes, that's crazy when it costs so much.

I really love Hello Hydration!! It's sold at the drug store for $3.50
I notice that it has silicones in it so I use a clarifying poo every couple of weeks.
It smells amazing too!

someone suggested loreal natures therapy a while back and I LOVE IT. best conditioner i've eever tried and I've tried a lot - mostly drug store brands but higher end ones too. I also love pretty much all aveda products - but that might be because I love the smell.

ETA - i also add a leave in - especially if I straighten - I think its called hot ends by Got2Be, its in a blue bottle with a pump. a LITTLE bit of coconut oil is also a great mositurizer especially for dry ends - you just have ot go really really light on it because it can get oily easily.

As far as a shine mist....I've been using Colorgen's UV Shine Mist (at Sally's). Malibu recommended it awhile back, and I love it as well now! Smells delish, the shine is amazing, and it doesn't weigh my hair down like those serums.

I invested in the Pureology Nanoworks 'poo and conditioner liters. Yep, spent some major bones for it(even off Ebay)...but OMG the difference in my natural hair's condition is incredible! It feels thicker...looks so much healthier! I've got blonde highlights, with typical overprocessed damage here and there. An ex-stylist took a razor to create unwanted layers in the back, and made it all look worse (back in Feb).
I've been using the Nano for 2-3 weeks now, and I see and feel the difference. I don't have to use any styling crap on my hair(except for the Colorgen, cuz it smells soooo deelish) I can't think of using anything else at this point...so it was well worth the $$$ for me. And I love the scent of the Nano too.
Glad to hear I'm not missing out with the Kerastase. That really bites that you didn't get any improvement from using it!
