Hi ladies,
Ive been looking at articles about lace fronts for a while and I must say I'm really surprised at how many people are happy with theirs.
I lost a lot of my hair along with my confidence after being on medication and I was sad at first because I didn't know what the hell I was going to do to my hair to give me my self-esteem back. It did start to grow a bit and when i discovered lace fronts I was soo happy because i thought i'd found a way of reducing the risk of further damage with the use of relaxers and braiding while waiting for it to grow. Everybody here made it look so good and so when i found allaboutmyhair.com which offreed aa premium hair i thought great. I scrimped and saved missing university lectures sometimes so i could work and get the extra money and was finally able to get enough money £500 which is bout $1000.00. The lady who sold it to me was caled Rotesha and I thought she was nice at first but i noticed that they never picked up their phone and you could only contact them by email. This troubled me as i had so many questions to ask since i'd never even seen a lace front before but because i was soo excited and had managed to finally save up the money i ordered anyway..
Now prior to this id been emailng Rotesha about whether they had any idea as to when the wig would likely be made and various questions but would never get a reply. On the one ocassion where she replied she only answered one question which was really annoying. It seemed as if she didn't really read through any of my emails
After waiting 2 months and a further 2 weeks due to apostal delay(I live in London) I received it in squashed carrier bag aith no instructions r anything.Even when i emailed about instructions i got no reply so i had to look on other sites and you tube.
I shaved the front bit of my hair since i have a lot of baby hairs and tried to stick the glue . i was sent the only adhesive being offered on the site (safe grip). It was ike pva glue and within an hour of sticking it down, the lace would come off, the glue would stick in my hair and the wig and it woyld takwe me about theree days to get all the glue of my skin. ITS BEEN HELL. I have only had the wig for a month and its torn.when i part it it looks net like.I can see the knots which were supposedly bleached and I cant even tie it up because it won't stick. I've tried mity tite and spirit gum but no luck
 Has anybody else had any of thesse problems?Aren't the roots meant to look natural/ Mine only does from a distance but as soon as you come up close, it looks wiggy. Is this how the lace fronts look?
Since i live in London, where lace fronts are not really known about, theres seems to be no one to ask
Please please if anyone out ther has any ideas on what i can do or can tell me what i'm doing wrong then please let me know.Any advice tips would be much appreciated because i'm going crazy. £500 ($1000.00) is a lot of money for me and paying that much for a wig which is damaged after only four weeks is horrible. Ontop of that i don't know what to do to my hair now i've damaged my hairline and its all broken off. I know some peop,e may think i'm being abit over the top but I can't even leave the house, feels soo depressed

Hey Devanisha, I'm soooo sorry to hear about your problems, both with your hair and with the lacefront! First, is there any kind of return addr on your packaging that you can write to or call to voice your complaint? I agree that for $1000 you should at least have someone to ask questions or voice a complaint to!! Unfortunately, i don't know a whole lot about lacefronts, but I have watched my mother work with wigs and weaves for years ( she has alopecia and has lost a lot of hair, especially on top) as far as adhesives, what about the ones used for glueing false eyelashes? I don't know how strong they would be, but they would definitely be gentle to your skin. Can you try tying a scarf or putting a fabric headband at your hairline over the lacefront to hold and camoflage (sp?) it at the same time? Assuming that a lace front and a regular wig are basically similar, you might be able to repair it and/or add more hair if you are semi-handy with a needle and thread. You need to go over to BHM.. If you are willing to take some time to do some reading over there, you will find a WEALTH of information that will help you get your application down. Use the search function to get the most out of the information there.. The search function there is a LOT funky.. Here is a link to some pointers on searching:

As for adhesives, if you go over to BHM and start doing some reading, you will see that one size does not fit all.. An adhesive that works well for one person, may not work well for someone else.. You may find that you will have to do some experimenting to find the right adhesive for you. There are many more adhesives out there.
As for the "gridlike" appearance.. You will need to bleach the knots to eliminate this look. I am wearing a lace closure that was supposed to have bleached knots too. The closure still had a gridlike apperance to it. To me this was a sure indicator that the knots needed to be bleached some more.. I bleached the knots, and now the closure looks VERY natural. (even up close)

Yes i thought about bleaching the knots. Its so good to know that somebody else noticed the gridlike appearance. How did you bleach the knots and what did you bleach it with. Is it with a dye? if so what colour/ please let me know when u can

I used a powdered bleach package and 20 vol developer I got from Sally's Beauty Supply.. I don't remember which brand bleach it was, the girls at Sally's helped me with that.. I only got 20 volume developer so that the color lifted slowly, and I could process without over-processing.. I followed the directions for bleaching knots I found on Black Hair Media's lacefront forum (under the newbie sticky threads) as well as the instructions on the bleach package... If I recall the BHM thread said to bleach the hair to browns or light brown, but I bleached to a dark blonde instead.. (a tip I got on another website I found in a Google search) The knots disappeared and about 1/32 of an inch of the hair coming out of the lace was lightened, really making the hair much more natural looking - as if growing directly out of your head. It made a HUGE difference in how natural the closure looked..
I would STRONGLY suggest that you go over to BHM's lacefront forum.. ( http://forum.blackhairmedia.com/forum_topics.asp?FID=79 - http://forum.blackhairmedia.com/forum_topics.asp?FID=79 ) The newbie sticky threads at the top of the forum are a good place to start.. Doing some searches will get you much more information.. For example if you search by topic for "Bleach Knots" there are other helpful threads on bleaching knots..
There are lot's of tips and tricks on dealing with lacefronts on BHM. You will have to spend some time reading though.. Those newbie threads alone are several pages in size, and the information is sprinkled throughout them, so you will have to go through the threads in their entirety to find the information you need..
