in a earlier post i said i had my husband cut just the split ends out of my hair. he didn't get them all out that day only the ones he could see. today i saw some more and my mom help. she just snip the little split ends like my husband did a couple weeks ago. it is very time comsuming because they are tiny only a few bigger ones. some people on here have mention they go through there hair to snip out the split ends. i would like to know how often do you snip out your split ends? btw i used good hair scissors

Typically, I go through my hair for splits about once a month or so. Always under a bright light with sharp scissors. It's a very tedious process, but it's necessary in order to maintain the health of my hair. It takes me about an hour or so, and I still don't get all of them, but it makes a good solid dent in the total. Keep in mind that splits breed others because the rough ends of the split rough up the cuticles of the surrounding hairs. While I'm trimming the individual splits out, I'm also trimming a few strands surrounding that may have damage that isn't quite visible to the naked eye. I don't know if this is the best thing to do, but it seems to cut back on the splits I trim out each month.

My hair is almost to my knees (~50") and continues to grow longer. Rather slowly these days, but that's ok - it's still *growing*.
