I need help!! I had Great Lengths about 3-4 years ago, 4 consecutive times.  I absolutely LOVED them and was totally addicted.  Not one bond fell out and they looked great from the day I had them to the day I took them out, usually 5 months later.  I think alot of it has to do with the stylist because I see alot of girls with Great Lengths that look peicey and obvious - which mine never did.  The girl who did mine was the West Coast educator so she was obviously very experienced. I would literally get stopped in the street and complimented on my hair and have people asking what shampoos I used, etc!
 
After my finace and I started sharing finances I felt ridiculous spending $1,200 on my hair (not including highlights, etc) so I found some great Indian hair clip in extensions which are great when my hair is in a pony tail or when I wear it curly but no matter how I cut  my hair and the extentions, I can't get them to look great when they are straight - they look extremely obvious.
 
SO, now I want my beautiful hair back so I can wear it up, down, etc and not have to adjust annoying clips or worry about a clip showing, but hestitate on spending $1,200 again on my hair (especially when I have a house, car, business, etc to spend money on). 
 
I would spend up to $700 and not feel bad so I figure there has to be a equally fabulous alternative, but I want the same thick, gorgeous, healthy hair as I had with Great Lengths - and I know some people say the quality of their hair wasn't great but my experince, all 4 times was AWESOME. 
I love long hair and lots of it.  Below is the only pic I could find on my comp of my old Great Lengths and its in a pony tail, but those are the 22" ones. (Sorry so grainy, it was an old scan of a pic)
 
What would you girls recommend as an alternative for TOP QUALITY hair. I mean, THE BEST.   I was thinking of trying the sew in method but not sure where to find a quality stylist who is experienced of where even to begin finding a great hair distributor.
 
Anyways, sorry so long - just need help finding an alternative to Great Lengths without sacrificing hair quality.....
 
Any advice or direction would be appreciated....THANKS :)

So Cap is a great- I had them first then went to GL's and was highly disappointed in GL.
 
I paid under $700 w/products, tips and installs!

I went for micr links, I love them as much as GL and paid $500 for everything, plus I like the fact that I can take them out to see how my hair real hair is doing underneath there.

sew-in with virgin russian hair - you cannot get any better hair for fine/caucasian texture period. I'd suggest checking out some other forums like DIYextensions.net for advice on where to get russian hair as there has been some controversy over it on these boards.

sew-ins are great because they're still very comforatable and natural feeling with better coverage compared to invividuals/strand by strand installs.

I install my own fusion and my daughter's and I get great coverage with it. I've worn sewn in and bonded weaves and have had success with all three techniques. It's just a personal preference. While installing tracks is much, much faster than fusion, fusion last much longer before a new re-install is needed. As a matter of fact with monthly to bi monthly maintenance I've never done a complete uninstall and re-install.

Oh I forgot about what I actually use currently - Tiffany Twist, its installed very similar to fusion/GL but its a different substance entirely, I feel very gentle on the hair (though I can't personally compare it to fusion). It has a definate learning curve and can be hard to learn at first, but once you get the hang of it, its amazing! I belive there were a few threads on it lately if you do a search.

Yes- a lot of people are having great results with the Tiffany Twist if you want to do another strand-by-strand.
If you want the very best in hair, like Bunny & Malibu said, it will be Russian Virgin. Definitely check out the site Bunny suggested for more info on suppliers. You can get it in bulk and install it strand-by-strand, or you can have it wefted in a hand-tied weft and use another method of install. Sew-in would prob. be a great method for you since you already know how much you love to wear the extensions, and will not be needed a method that is short-term.

I will chime in with Bunny and Malibu. The virgin Russian and a sew in sort of balances out cost wise because the Russian hair is expensive but a sew in with 3-4 wefts is cheap. It’s true you can’t go as long in between with a sew in and it will need to be re-positioned. Most people say they can go up to 6 weeks but a lot go a month only before maintenance. You can probably push it a little as long as the wefts still feel secure. Some think the sew ins don’t give you quite the same natural movement as strand by strand methods but I am having no problems at all and I think it actually looks better and more real than any other method I have done including GL. Depending on how many wefts you get sewn in and positioning, you can clip your hair up on he sides and also wear a complete up do no problem. I only wear 3 wefts though and maybe the more you go, the more complicated that can get though.
