I've had my first sew-in for about a month and half now. It still looks good, low maintance( I have new deep wave hair) but I don't want to damage my hair underneath. When should I take it out?

6 weeks is supossed to be the max or so I have been told but some people can go longer and others shorter I guess depending on how fast the hair grows. Its probably a good idea to get it taken out now and cleaned up and re-positioned just to be on the safe side? You arent having any bad smell from it right?

It depends on the wearer.. Some ladies can get only 4 weeks and others can go up to 12 weeks.. Depends on your hair. I can get 12 weeks out of most installs But I have SUPER thick kinky/wavy hair..

12 weeks is the MAX for anyone!! If the braids are RIDICULOUSLY loose, then you need to take it down and have it redone.. You will get a feel for it as you wear it.. If it still feels nice and secure you should be okay....

I'm always touching my tracks at the fourth week. If there's one finger width (not length) of distance then I'm okay but two finger widths and I need to get back in there!!

I've gone two and a half months when my stylist did them but that was really pushing it. When I did my own, I would re-do them every 6 weeks they were loose by then (not that great at braiding my own hair tightly).
Like they said, you'll get a feel for it and as long as they're not too loose you should be fine. It really does depend on how fast your hair grows and how secure they are in the first place.
If they look good and feel fine you should have no problems leaving them in.
