Hello everyone! I desparately need help figuring out what to do with my hair by the next time I get it done. I don't have the cash flow to get my hair done monthly, so it gets difficult for me to do anything I enjoy with it. The last time I got it trimmed. the woman cut the fringe I have now. Well, the woman was too preoccupied with whatever was going on in her head, and trimmed only about 1/3 of my bangs, and left some pretty obvious peices hanging. The back she trimmed in all different directions, and left it looking extremely unhealthy and choppy. Trying to get some satisfaction out of my hair while it grows out, I dyed the underside of my hair black. The rest I wanted to change into a more rich and light-reflecting shade of brown that wasn't too dark. Naturally I have dishwater brown hair, and I detest it. My mother and I both have it, and we've both been trying to get away from it for years. It is a very cool color, so I figured I would go for something warmer. Well, I thought I had grabbed something that wouldn't turn me bronze, but I was wrong. I now have an ugly, bronzy top and a bad hair cut. You can't even see the black unless you look for it. I'm 20! I am supposed to be some hot stuff, right? Well I certainly don't feel like it. I have been searching for a hair cut that will soften my facial features, but not hide my face. I want a hair style that will always look well kept and clean, never choppy or outgrown. I want dynamic color that will have other women in awe for having actually accomplishing the feat of managing beautiful brunette hair. I don't want to go bronze, blonde, or red but I don't want to be the usual flat and boring color you get when you go brunette. I would like to have a color and cut that makes my eyes stand out above everything. I have visited those sites where you can virtually give yourself a hair cut, unfortunately that is as about as helpful as imagining yourself in place of a magazine model. It is really too fake for me, not near convincing enough. (Though I really wish it was) (I may as well add, I would like to avoid getting highlights. I think blondes with 50 shades of blonde in their hair as highlights and lowlights are just gorgeous, but I don't see how I can manage that. I got both highlights and low lights in my hair once, but it didn't look half as glamorous. It was like putting a bright red kettle into a tub of dirty brown dishwater vs. putting a red kettle on a rock next to a sparkling river. lol) If I could have anyone's hair I would love to just steal it from Ferie in this one magazine cover, but I don't think I have the right facial features to be able to pull it off near as well. I agree. You are a pretty girl, and as much as many of us just hate our natural hair color (including me), it really does look great natural, especially on those girls lucky enough to have lovely skin (which you have). I understand your desire to mess with color though, it can be a lot of fun. I would have called your nose small, your teeth fine, and I remember when I was young and hated my big cheeks too, but they don't look big to everyone else, trust me, you'll realize that when you're 30. (That you spent your time picking on what you thought were imperfections, and when you look back at those old photos you'll just see how pretty you were and be sad you were so worried about it. You shouldn't worry about it!). So, it looks to me like none of these photos are of the hair you have now which you don't like? It doesn't sound to me like you're asking how to get there for a do-it-yourself job, you are planning to go to a salon and you are asking what will look good on you, right? Well, anything, in my opinion - blonde or dark. If you want your light eyes to stand out, going darker is the best way to do that. But if you want blonde, consider it! Welcome! Yeah, I have advice, catonmars. When you go to bed tonight, thank God for the beauty that you obviously have! As for your hair, from the front, your hair looks super. It's nice and long, with a natural wave. I'll agree that some stylists are really hackers who chop layers that look accidental and unsightly. But over months, even a bad back layering begins to blend. So, if you enjoy long hair, wait it out and just trim the bottom tips occasionally.
I'm a guy, but I have lots of girls in my family. All you need is a dose of confidence. You clearly already have all the tools that a young woman needs to make a great life for yourself, including a large dollop of intelligence, based on your verbal skills. Blessings, Bob
