My best friend bought a hair color ,Dark Sable I think, by Loreal that really did well with texture and almost complete coverage.  My hair is totally gray but I don't want to have gray hair - yet - lol.  It's beautiful on many women and wish the color looked right with my skin coloring but it just doesn't.

Anyway, I read about the 10% peroxide treatment then washing it out and applying color.  I can't stand the color I am using which is too dark. I want my original which is a lighter brown but not real light.  Anyway, I am unsure about washing out the peroxide because all coloring instructs to apply on dry hair unless it's a temporary color.
 
I would like to go lighter but when I tried that the gray ended up light and not the rest of my hair.  My hair is thin, curley and I have gone to about three inches below my shoulders. 
 
I hope there's an easy answer for this-lol.  Thanks
