My friend and i decided to dye our hair. we both have almost identical dark hair and length, so we both got the same color dye. she left hers in a little longer than mine, and hers was much redder. so i did it again, (don`t worry- this was still the original bottle) and it still didn`t really turn out auburn, like my friends. so today we went back to the drugstore, and wanted to make our hair slightly redder. we did it again, and my hair is still VERY brown! it is only slightly tinted auburn, whereas my friend`s hair is the same color. why is this?! i`m going to wait a while before dying again, or i will have seriously damaged hair!!!!!

Hair: It can make you happy, it can make you sad, but mostly it just allows you to spend some quality time with your mirror. :-)

When a person colors their hair, they will turn orange if they try to lighten it more than two or three levels. Probably what you need to do, is to bleach it out and then tone it to the color you want. A great website that explains all this stuff is http://www.robertcraig.com - http://www.robertcraig.com Go to the consumer section and then click on the menu item titled "So you want to be a beautiful blonde, redhead, etc...
I hope this helps.

P.S. I have used his products and I highly recommend them. They do exactly what they say they will do.
