Dont assume things, just ask him first if he is using correct guards.

Yeah thats not something you play around with , it's your hair and your money make sure you know for a fact what guard he's using. -------------

Tell your barber to use a 1.5 or 2 guard. It really depends on your hair texture. Do you already have waves? -------------
