Time to move on to a new segment called What are we putting in our hair? Today, the battle of moisturizers will be examined ingredient for ingredient. We will look at the top 5 ingredients of each product, that which gives the product consistency. Most under the top five are the actual forms of nourishment and moisture.  Luster's Pink Oil Moisturizer vs.  Hollywood Beauty Carrot Creme First lets examine Pink Oil. Pink Oil is made up of these first five ingredients Deionized water, mineral oil, lanolin, beeswax, petrolatum Deionized water, simply pure water. A sound ingredient to ensure no bad mineral mixtures with other products. Mineral Oil. Thing are not looking good here. Mineral Oil, (according to wikipedia) is liquid petrolatum. The liquid form of the biproduct formed when producing gasoline. This stuff coats your scalp and hair follicles. It does not get absorbed into hair well, and is the general cause for the greasy feeling hair will have. Next, lanolin. Lanolin is a greasy yellow substance from wool bearing animals. It might sound gross, but it is actually good for you. Medical grade lanolin is used on chapped lips, dry skin, minor cuts, and diaper rash. This stuff is absorbed into the skin and hair really well unlike mineral oil, so it is great to get the ther nutritional products into your scalp. Beeswax has been used for years for water repellant, and in shoe shine. This stuff helps give your hair that pink oil shine. And the fifth ingredient of Pink oil is... petrolatum. More grease/shine oil. Now... Carrot Creme. Carrot Creme is made up of these top 5 ingredients... deionized water, Isopropyl Myristate, Soybean Oil and Stearic Acid. Deionized water, pure water. Isopropyl myristate is the ester of isopropanol and myristic acid. Basically this stuff is used in cosmetic products where goods need to be absorbed through the skin. It does what lanolin does for pink oil. But note it is the second most abundant ingredient in Carrot Creme. Cetearyl alcohol is not really an alcohol like rubbing alcohol, but more like a wax. It, also is used as a moisturizer in many cosmetic products. Soybean oil, a natural moisturizer, but it is also harvested, and sold worldwide as vegetable oil. Stearic acid is used to harden soaps, particularly those made with vegetable oil." (wikipedia) Well there you have it, a breakdown of what gives the consistency to these 2 products. Check out my post count, check how long I been here. I don't give a f*** about post counts. And yea its like PBS, thats funny, oh wait that doesnt even make sense. If i wanted to get my post count up, id reply in random threads and say, lol, or nice waves. if i wanted to help the community, id put real insight and thought into all my posts. Word you don't post much you've been here for a long time and have 286 posts so anybody saying your trying to get your post count up the statement is irrelevant.
By the way I've been doing some experimentation lately with a few products: Olive/Carrot Creme, and Indian Hemp. My regular permenant product is pink lotion. -------------
