Alright well I saw it yesterday in the corner in drug fair (go figure) and I wanted to get it but I didnt want to before I got all the facts. on someone who has 13-14 inch hair thats medium thickness do you think it would make my hair *flat*? I mean smooth doesnt mean completely flat now does it? Anyway I just want to know before I spend 30 bux on hair care supplies and have themnow work like that other brand I tried *coughsebastiancough*

Hi,

The Smoothing Lotion shampoo from ARTec is a very creamy shampoo and it may make some hair flat. It is best for thick, wavy and curly hair that tends to be dry because it is very moisturizing. It is part of my normal shampoo rotation which includes:

1. Smoothing Lotion
2. Aveda Shampure
3. Phytotherathrie PhytoCidre or PhytoCitrus
4. Test shampoo (currently testing some Mine products).

If the Smoothing Lotion is too smoothing, you can mix it with water. They tell you not to do that but it does help keep the shampoo less thick and less likely to flatten out.

People with thin/fine hair should not use Smoothing because it definitely will flatten their hair.

With your hair being medium thickness I think it could go either way. Their new Kiwi shampoo line is less moisturizing and thus less likely to flatten.

If you can buy the small versions that is best for testing.

Hope that helps. If not, please post more.

Karen

Thanks alot. Thats all I really needed to know. My hair is very annoying. The front is alot finer... with more hairs, trhat are straighter. And the back has sparser very very thick coarse wavy strands that are dry. So its hard to find one that wont flatten the front and will keep the back down. I`ll just try the Artec... I got 20 bux for easter and I *must* spend it. I like spending money. :) thank ya agaaaaaaain

Hi Dana,

Here is a secret that some celebrities use...they use 2 different shampoos at the same time. A stylist told me this as well. So if your hair is more than one texture...like fine in the front and thick coarse strands in the back, mix and match. It can be a little bit of a pain but it does work.

I have to tell you that Matrix Amplify is just great for most people w/ fine hair and the ARTec Smoothing would probably do the trick for the back of your head.

Here is a trick....use waterproof clips that are big, like duckbill clips. Clip off the two different sections of your hair. Wash the front fine part first with the shampoo of your choice. Rinse and then clip back up. Unclip the back hair and wash with smoothing or moisturizing shampoo. Rinse well and then unclip the front and rinse the whole head in cool/cold water.

I actually have used two different shampoos on my hair when my ends are feeling really fragile but I need the cleansing at the top and the middle part. I use PhytoCidre at the top and the middle and then ARTec Smoothing on the ends because it is so moisturizing.

I think you are right to worry about the fine hair getting too flat w/ ARTec Smoothing. It probably would.

Let me know if you have more questions.
