i have heard good things about loreal color preferance....high end salons use loreal along with other brands but it is in high end salons and that speaks well of the color line quality....i know at eric fisher's they use goldwell and loreal....you should have good luck with the color...one thing is it makes highlights, kinda for you...it is shimmery.  turned someone blonde with loreal (not sure what line, you know like the feria and such) and the color was a knockout. i got the color at sally's.   good luck!!

I've used L'Oreal Preference before, but not the dark shades.  I was pretty happy with the color.  However, did notice that their shades do tend to turn out warm on those with warmth already in their hair.  I'd strand test first before doing the entire head.  Good luck and I hope this helps.

I love this product!! I used it in every color, lol! I color my hair that much.I use dark auburn as of now.I'd for sure try it if I were you.I wouldn't use Feria as much though. It tends to dry your hair out more, well atleast it did my hair.Good luck girl!!

What color is your hair right now? That way I can tell u what color to get.By the way, if u don't know what shade to get always get the lighter one.Trust me, hair color tends to turn out darker than what's on the box.

no i don't have it....but here is why i told you to get the light golden brown....because you say your hair is so dark...you need the lift that the light golden brown will hopefully give you.  it is a science and sometimes not an easy one.  have you ever colored your hair before?  it is not as scary as it seems....i don't think you have told me whether or not you have a sally's around you.....usually the people in there can help you....but if you don't have a sally's, then the loreal will or should work.  you will be ok...but ABOVE ALL DO A STRAND TEST!!!!!  cannot emphize this enough....just in case it does not turn out like you want you won't have your whole head covered in a bad color....just snip a little piece off and apply the color to it and see what happens.  don't be scared....doing the strand test will save money and tears if all does not go well.  let me know what happens....just snip a piece of hair where it is not noticable and put the dye on it.  that is the best way to do it, bar none...good luck chancebrown!!!!

Yes i have before but they have some Loreal Prerence dye that made just for black hair to cover it now label on the pack

Do you still suggest light golden brown insead of medium golden brown even know the dye box has the label for made just to cover dark hair

PS

i would not think so...i have not used loreal preference.....look on the back of the box it will have your level or how dark your hair is and it will show what it will be, approxamently......just look on the back and go from there....look on the medium golden brown and see where you'd end up and if you want lighter look on the light golden brown.  i know loreal has good products so you should be fine.....you might want to buy 2 boxes if you have alot of hair.  you are going to be fine.

I don't know what that shade is but, the best way to color your hair is to choose a dye that is two shades lighter than your natural color.  Best to go to Sally Beauty and get the shade you want.  If you hair is warm, which I think it will be, you might just want to start with an ash shade.  I'd buy the 30 vol. developer, then get the light ash brown.  Strand test first.  If you want a warmer color then get the neutral shade.  If you really like that shade, I think if I were you I'd try Miss Clairol 46 D Chestnut Brown.  Although this shade is a green based dye, it still is pretty warm.  You might actually like it.  Try a 20 vol. peroxide for about 45 mins.  Strand test first.  Good luck and I hope this helps. http://www.clairolpro.com/dispensary/swatches/mc_swatches.html - http://www.clairolpro.com/dispensary/swatches/mc_swatches.html

Here's a picture of a chestnut for an idea of the shade...

PS All dyes dry your hair out...just use a good conditioner and only touch up the roots each time you dye, don't do the entire head.

I'd do what Lovetocolor says.Just to be safe. So, u don't have a bad color all over your whole head.I'd get the light golden brown because of how dark your hair is.If u got the med. one that's wouldn't lighten it enough. Also before I forget to tell u, to help the color stay & not fade so much, get u a color conditoner it was Artec color, but now it's called Loreal color conditoner.Tehy have it in all diff.colors.I use the red collection to keep my red vibrant.I love it!! Plus, it helps me from having to color as much.Well, good luck hun!
