Hey everyone! I am new to this forum, so I thank anyone and everyone who responds to this post. I am a 33 year old male who is prematurely gray (natural color is a medium brown). I have been coloring my hair basically since college. As time passed I had to color it more and more often. A few years ago I began coloring at home, rather than going to the salon every other week to get my hair done. After getting fed up with having to color it every week and touch it up in the middle of the week, I cut it off to see just how gray it was. The sides are fairly gray (I would say 75%) and the top is not too bad (I would say 10%). I really do not like the look of having gray hair at such a young age and have been considering coloring it again, but dread the idea of having to be a slave to coloring it again.

When I did color it, my temples would become gray extremely fast (in about two days). Was I doing something wrong? Is there a product that would allow for superior gray coverage? I have been looking into Redken Shades EQ. It appears to be a pretty healthy hair color, but I am concerned about the gray coverage (I do not want the sides to look reddish, while the top looks brown). Does anyone have experience coloring gray hair with this product?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

hi grayhair.....i use shades eq....they work fine on gray hair as long as you add the nb series....that would be neutral brown....you add it to your color and that is what colors gray....it is a color that really does stay in the hair good....at least that has been my experience.....i hope it is yours too....the lightest nb color is irish creme and then chestnut, brandy maple and mocha java....those are all the nb series....they range from level 9-3, so you ought to find something that will work....i hope you find something...what you are doing sounds frustrating and time consuming....Thumbs%20Up..you'll find something, i am positive.
