Hi,

I currently have long hair and am considering a major chop. I`ve never worn it shorter than shoulder length, and I`m a bit considered because I`ve heard of people who have discovered their long hair actually had texture when cut short.

Right now, I would consider my hair to be perfectly straight. However, I`m beginning to wonder if my hair may actually fall into waves if I cut it shorter. (Right now it`s past midback, no bangs). I have these tendrils of hair that frame my face that fall to about chin length; these exist because they have broken off from my hair in styling, not by a cut I have chosen. Usually, these curl into a large "C" shape, so that they end up curling away from my face (not in an attractive way). If I`m outside in the rain, these short hairs curl up into ringlets.

My brother and dad have slightly wavy hair, and I`m just wondering if I can expect my hair to be a bit wavy when I cut it. If so, this would seriously impact on the style that I choose. I know that when I get my hair trimmed, the stylist often has trouble because the tips of my hair want to turn away from any straight line she tries to cut. Any idea what I might expect my hair to look like at chin length or shorter? Are there certain styles I should avoid?
