Hello,
This is the colour my hair looks like at the moment:

Naturally its kind of beige blonde/light brown, its a bit of a blah colour. So, for a few years now I've been having it highlighted light blonde. Now it looks really nice when its first done and its bright, but it fades so fast, and I'm always left with the ashy kind of colour above.

Now I'm off to uni in a couple of weeks, and I'd like to get my hair done before I go. But I'm torn between getting really blonde/almost white highlights like normal or going for a complete change and going dark brown.

I love having blonde hair, its what I'm used to, and it suits me. I love it when its just been highlighted. But all this bleaching is taking its toll on my hair, so I'm not sure whether to go brown for that reason.

I've always been curious about going brown, but I'm worried it won't suit me. My friends and especially my boyfriend aren't very keen on the idea, but I'm curious. I know I'm quite pale, so I shouldn't go too dark, but I really do want a kind of chocolate shade, much like Reese Witherspoon's hair in this picture:

I was really just wondering what people thought would suit me, should I stay blonde or go brunette?
Thank you very much for your help, I really appreciate it :)

definitely blonde!  can you pick up some of that purple shampoo?  my fav is the shimmer lights (clairol)

when my hairdresser touches up my roots, she doesn't pull the strand all the way though & I just have highlights.  maybe you could ask for that from now on?

I'm with Worldsaver.U for sure look great as a blonde.I don't usually like blonde so much, but on u it's good.I'd either use shimmer Lights or u could try Artec color shampoos & condioners. They sell them online.U should go check them out. They all kinds of colors. It's great stuff. It really keeps my red color from fading.I love it!! Well, good luck hun!!

I'm  a huge fan of blonde and your blonde is great... maybe toss in some dark low lights for a change or darken the underside

I like it blonde. I think if you went as dark as that Reese Witherspoon pic you wouldnt like it at first cuz it would be too much of a drastic change.
(Believe me I have done that so many times!)
I'm with Hal that maybe some darker low lights are a good idea. Then if you like that,in another month or so you could go a shade darker from there.

You look gorgeous as a blonde. I think that if you're someone who can pull off really light blonde (which you can and do) then darker hair never looks as striking. For example, Cameron Diaz, I really don't think brunette worked on her at all.

I really think you make a beautiful blonde.  I wouldn't change a thing.  If you are not happy with the color after the highlights are done then ask the colorist what color toner she is toning them with and then tone your hair yourself in between highlighting jobs.  Make sure too that when she/he highlights your hair that there is NEVER overlapping done.  That is what causes the hair to get trashed...Hair can take at least three bleachings before it's really a problem.  Anyway, I hope this helps.

Oooo Ilove the color of your hair. It looks soooo good and healthy too!!! I'm jealous righ tnow! LOL . I'm a total fan of dark hair and blue eyes. But your look dainty and the dark may be too heavy for you.
Stay blonde for sure!!! :) Looks good.

Definitely blonde.  It looks really great on you.   I have been through this same dilemma myself and have decided to stay blonde.

I was light blonde, went dark brown now I'm bright orange tryin to get blonde....don't do it!! Stay blonde, you'd probably regret it afterward. Use a blue silverising shampoo to keep it bright and fresh as suggested. I wish I was still blonde Unhappy
